I have been looking for a better module from susie. (o-like) I am afraid that if I get the 120-150, the divergence wont be as good as the 80-100.. I am looking for the better burner.. But I have heard that the 100mw has < divergence so IT is a better burner.. Please help..=)

I got a 100mW module. It didnt burn anything...didnt even smoke it. It was probably under-spec but i didnt have a meter to test it on. Fortunately Jake-the-snake gave me a good offer and took it off my hands...

Yeah I don't believe those are burners, AT ALL. Why not spring for 48 dollars and get the o-like dilda, get new batteries and have a 250mw red laser about, if you REALLY want to burn but more expensive get a lens housing from larry and you will get a tighter beam and more MW.

They are very popular here, my friend had one and it is very cool. if you really want to see the beam get a cheap greanie pen, burning and visible is expensive in my limited (yet expensive) experience

Blu-Ray is best for burning but has the least visibility. Lower wavelenghts carry more energy.
My 532nm 80-120mW module from o-like will light matches but they have to be colored black.

FTR, the Larry DFW lenses are for either red or Blu-ray (not green, in case anyone misconstrued that post) ....

As we speak I am going through a mess of modules from different suppliers (I'm trying to establish a decent supplier and get a nice quantity price) - most of them right in that 100-120mW range, and I've noticed that one of the SXD modules I have that reads a rock-solid 96-100mW as well as having one of the thinnest, tightest beams I've seen will NOT light a red match at a foot, yet another module from Rayfoss that reads 85-90mW and has a "so-so" beam profile lights them instantly...Weird.

(And before anyone pulls the "IR" card, they're being measured on a thermopile-based LPM, so the readings include IR)

I'm wondering if the difference is in how much the IR leakage is collimated, if it's tight with the beam then it should help burn, but if it scatters then not so much, Hmmmm....

BrewCity;

The aspheric lens assemblies I have are for 400 to 600nm spectrum.

Greens are 532nm.

One customer, RA Pierce, with the Hi-Power lens reported ~98% power efficiency, when measured with his power meter.
(post # 131 in For Sale thread below)

I have a popular adjustable-focus green laser on the way for lens testing.

Oops - didn't realize, sorry! ... It would be cool if you could figure out how to make those (ahem) "focusable" green lasers actually focus DOWN for burning, then you'd definitely have something!

I have gotten a few folks about 100 mW CNI pens for about $100 and they have been used to ignite matches and burn, and it isn't IR! Good beam specs too! -Glenn
