I haven't looked at it with my i.r. cam, but the power seems to be the same no matter if I am 1 inch, or 2 feet from it. :cool:

These do appear to leak a lot of ir, but a lot is blocked if you mount the module in an enclosure with a small aperture a few inches back.

Yeah this was my first labby too.

But I definitely think its money well spent :p 71 bucks shipped, you cant beat that...really

But look on the bright side, once I source a nice dorcy jr, youll have almost 1/3 of the money you spent on labby back on your account :)

Got mine. The IR dot is quite focused compared to what you'd see on a pointer, though not as focused as the laser's itself.

I looked at the laser today with my ir cam, and I don't see much ir, if you mount the module back a ways from the opening in your case, it will block a lot of the ir.

Wow! This is an awesome deal. I'm going to set aside some cash to pick one of these up as soon as I can. Will they have these in stock all the time or are they a temporary deal?

They didn't have them before. The auction said that these were ordered by one of their customers, but that the customer's requirements had changed. They sell other ones for more $. They have already changed the style once. Your guess is as good as anyone else's.

Ill be ordering one of these within the next week! awesome deal! Will be my first lab style laser. Hope I get one with a nice output.

Does anybody in central NJ have a power meter I could use? :-D

Nice, now why not buy them and mod them to 100mW and then resell them for double the price :p haha

because they were sold as 50mw the first time, and that would be dishonest.
would you like to buy a laser that had been modded for 100mw that was origionaly sold as 50mw, and have something that isnt what it appears to be? :(

It wouldn't really be dishonest, these lasers are designed to go to those powers anyway.

I have all the ideas for my next project already, i'm not going to get into details just now though :p

ordered! It will be here by friday!!! Woot! Hope mine is as adjustable as yours all have been. Now I need to find some mirrors. I think im going to try the FS Mirror mod from mirror acrylic sheet and paint thinner.

Damn, I still need to wait on my DX module getting here before I can order that one, then I need to try and find somewhere to do some metal work for me :-/

EDIT : Wont need a metal worker, just realized I wont need to cut any holes bigger than 1cm for what I'm doing, thats why I'm doing it the way I am :p

Anyone know what the mA to the diode is when the pots turned to max.
