Hi I had a nice 5mw green laser and i loved it i got it for about $20 but it recently broke...damn crystal but I wanted to get a new one anywhere from 20mw-100mw. I want it to have a nice beam and preferably use CR123A battery (same as the old one because i have 4 of them and a charger). I can spend up to $50 but preferably less. Thanks :)

p.s. I do not need it to burn things I have a red laser for that ;)

What do you think of this one ? http://www.ecrater.com/p/10986791/50mw-532nm-green-laser-pointer#

I got an overspec 50mW greenie from pickegg.com :) yes, they are in china, but hey mine turned out great! Their shipping is pretty fast. Oh and my 50mW was $35. Pretty cheap too! :p

the one u posted doesnt run on a CR123A battery. it runs on a 16340 battery. It says what type of battery it uses in the specification section under product details

Go for made in china, cheaper greenies, i heard a lot of good things about them, >50mW maybe a 100mW.. i guess the minimum price is not less than $75..
below 50mW greenies are still good..

No its not. i have the 50mW version of it. It is a very nice laser though. I recommend Energizer Ultimate Lithium AAA batteries with it. They last forever and maximize its power.

Hiya, I'm a noob to lasers although I've recently begun down of path research using an optogenetic toolbox; so, I'll be picking some of your more elite brains for more detailed info regarding my work in the very near future.

I'm interested in a highly visible pointer for lecturing. A good green laser is obviously the best choice. I've decided to go with Pickegg, since they seem to be so highly recommended in this thread.

Are all the models from Pickegg under the same listed output power the same, besides for the casing? The more expensive ones usually seem to list more specs, while the cheaper ones seem to have less product details. I saw a VERY powerful cheap green laser for under $20 here. Is a 75 mW fixed focusing green beam laser going to burn a hole in the projection screen if I have a power point presentation with a dark background? Am I going to blind some one if it bounces off a beaker? Having sightless students running around a burning building would not be a good way to move toward winter break. :san: Thanks in advance for any advice.

Well the one you suggested seems fine for a projection screen but if you are going to be pointing it at a reflective surface (beaker) I would go with something much less powerful like a 5mw. Here is the best quality 5mw laser around: Laserglow Technologies - Handheld Lasers, Alignment Lasers and Lab / OEM Lasers also read this http://laserpointerforums.com/f45/guide-buying-your-first-green-laser-30608.html

Great guide!!! :bowdown:Thanks for the poin... errr... thanks!
