ok so i had ordered a simple <50mW green laser pointer from o-like.com for $33

seems like a great deal to...ok so just 2 weeks ago i had received my package with the laser inside in perfect condition..

and the first time i used it in a dark room i was amazed but after 2 days i notice that it has a really small beam about <1.2mm in size and even if its at 43mW-47mW it still does not look as bright as a regular 40mW laser should

why is that?? yeah it can make holes in black plastic bags and burst a balloon up close in 10 sec.. or less

but the thin beam makes it look like you can see everything clearly except for the beam

dont get me wrong i still like it and use it if i get bored but i just wish it was a thicker beam

are all 1.2mm beam sized lasers like that or is it just mine?

Sounds like focus got adjusted - maybe not intentionally? Which laser was it? Can you post a link to it?

Most of us like smaller beam diameters. Is it spreading out a lot? Or does the beam stay think over a long distance?

perhaps there is more IR power than the visible 532nm causing the dim beam, yet, melting capabilities. (?)
