hey guys ive just brought a green 500mW laser from my friend at school for $160
is that rip off???. any ways it an awesome laser with 532nm. its very powerful its in those pen shaped housing its not a military grade :(

Short version of the long answer:

500mW 532nm green lasers can't fit in pen-style housings, because (A) the green laser modules are too big, and (B) they require larger batteries.

You cannot buy any portable 500mw green for under $200 online.

it's more likely about 100mw

Maybe the guy that sold it was going by the label or what he was told? He probably paid too much for it from some cheap chinese shop.

Nice friend you've got there. :)

160$, wow. If I had so much money, I'd spend it carefully. Just giving it to someone who claims to have a half watt laser is pretty naive.
