I just bought this green 500mw laser from laserpointerpro.com
Now, i am aware that the 500mw claim can be false and it could be a 50mw laser, but im taking that risk. It comes with an ultrafire 18650 4000mAh which i read is complete bs, so what battery should i run in this laser to get the most power of out it? I was looking at the protected panasonic 18650s, but those are less then 4k mAh. Is there any good brand that is truly 4k mAh and or doesnt lie about the mAh rating? Here is the laser i bought, Thanks! 500MW Beam Green Laser Pointer (1 x 4000mAh) Red at Laserpointerpro.com

$25.99!!! that is cheap Chinese bullshit. A 500mW 532nm will cost several hundred dollars. That is a low power laser and any battery including the one you have should work fine.

just fyi there is no such thing as a 4000mah 18650 that ultrafire might be 1500-2000mah if you are lucky.

I have some Panasonic and sony cells both perform well.

It really doesn't matter too much, some 18650s have a rating for how much power they can put out (max discharge rating I think), but I don't think that's ever really a problem. Diodes that need more power will call for 2 batteries so it doubles the voltage. Any 18650 should work, and even if you used a "high" and "low" quality 18650 I doubt the power would change by anything significant. Definitely less than you could see visually. Battery quality is only really important with AAA pen lasers. Just keep the 18650 fully charged and you shouldn't have any problems. I do have some extra panasonic batteries and chargers available though if your interested. Check out my ebay listing. I tested the capacity and they are right around what they should be. I would rather sell them here though to avoid the ebay fees.

EDIT :
Sorry didn't realize this was from 2014 until now, my bad. But my comment still applies so yeah...
