It could be without an IR filter or have a realy bad one for that price.Where did you buy it from? And with 100mW , no, you're not safe burning and looking at the dot on a white wall without goggles.And I think you mean 532nm.

Oh ouch! :( i hate to tell you this but you could've hardly made a worse choice.Ebay is a really bad place to buy pen lasers and spymodex is one of THE "most worsest" distributors out there.So if you get lucky enough to get a working laser, it will probably be less than 100mW and will not have an IR filter.
If you can cancel it, by all means DO IT! And buy from a real company.

You just bought a laser from a known scammer. I'd try to cancel that shit as fast as you can.

IR is light just like green but it's at a wavelength beyond what you can see, and you need goggles because you can get hit with IR light and not even know until it was too late (eye damage)

You need goggles for green too not only IR::) You need goggles for any color if it's higher than 5mW (basicly).

Also, I'm not sure what you mean by this but by all accounts, the price you pay is not a guarantee for quality or an IR filter. Especially not on eBay. And 100 dollars is simply not a lot of money for a 100mW laser, then again it's probably not even close to 100mW.

You are safe watching the dot on a wall, 100mW is absolutely nothing in that sense.

On the other hand, if you get hit by a reflection of the beam then say goodbye to your eyesight for a while.

[smiley=huh.gif].....SUNSPOTS!!

On a more serious note, besides sunspots, what does the IR actually do to one's eyes?(I know it's something we can't see but is harmful).
