Hello every one, I done a bit of research on green lasers, but I couldn't really find useful information on how to make one. So I was just wondering is it cheaper to buy a 1-2W green laser or make one? handheld preferably.

I would say it is cheaper to buy one... If you could legally
import one into Australia... which you can not.

I'm also curious as to why do you need a 2Watt 532nm
Hand held Laser....

People in Australia misunderstood the customs! ;) you could buy modules, but you can't buy a handheld laser. LOL

I need one to spot my FPV plane during night flying :p

Aren't lasers of that power illegal there?

Yeah is too, there is nothing legal here, no BB guns, lasers, tazers, pocket knife, chemicals, acids, fireworks and much more..... Menly toy in genral. :(

but in a way it's good, coz its very safe here :)

Why don't you just mount a light or something on the plane? If you're going to use it to spot your FPV plane, chances are you may shine it by accident on commercial airliners when you're looking for it. Considering it would be high powered, that will mean bad news for you...

Van at Lasever has a nice green module 700mW- starting out with that you could build your own--- but do take care and protect the eyes at all times.

some off topic advice- never post two(or more) in a row- your can merge them using the edit at the bottom of your posts.. you can add OR DELETE to anything using edit..

A good source of info is Dan ('Things') from Au. He is a mod here and knows his lasers.

GO to YouTube and search ( 190 balloons)< same module from Van-- tell Van that Hakzaw1 sent you please.

Sounds like a boring place to live. Here in the US we enjoy having the right to accidentally shoot ourselves, blind ourselves, shock ourselves, cut ourselves, burn ourselves, and blow all our fingers off. :gun:

Seriously though, good luck finding a 1-2W green laser for less than $1000+ and better luck getting it into your country. Even building one would be very expensive.

If you're just looking for a first build or something to play with, why not try for something in the ~200mW range. 532nm at that power is still quite bright and can burn things when focused properly.

Awww me so jelly!! You're country seems to be fun (in my countr of birth it's worse, guess what country), I might as well just move to USA after my graduation :)

I already built tones of laser! I still got 15x 70mW module and 3x 300-500mW red, that I need to get rod off!
