Awesome Jerry, you're going to love it.
I got mine for around $1600AUD but the price has come down a fraction.
I was using my iPhone 6S at the beach but I can squeeze in my iPad mini4 if I stretch the arms of the controller out.
This gives me better views.
Also, I think you mentioned you have the DJI Goggles Jerry?
They work a treat with the Mavic and they're wireless too so no need for a USB/HDMI cable link to the controller
Only the Mavic can hook up wirelessly to the Goggles. :D

RB
I got my Mavic Pro with the Combo Pack for
$1133.00 USD or $1462.00 Cnd with the discounts.

I had the DJI Goggles but sent them back when I
found they will not work as I thought with my P4P+
but only work as advertised with the Mavic Pro.

May need to get me the Goggles again later or maybe
a used pair and save some $$$. Do you have the
DJI Goggles ??

Yes I do Jerry and they're fantastic, they just sync up wirelessly to the Mavic.
I find flying with them is a great experience, everything looks like it's on an IMAX screen.
You should be able to pick them up a bit cheaper now.
I'll have to use them next time I do my experiment with lasers at a distance, no need for my Eagle Pair then.

Cheers
RB

It's simply stunning and sooooo addictive Bob.
Like, I needed another hobby, huh .....

RB

I'm going to have to give it some serious thought about going on a M&C diet, and picking up of of these. But like you said, I need another hobby like a hole in the head.

But they look like sooooo much fun! :D

Wait till you see the two new videos I'm going to post soon Bob.
It will make you think that starvation is worth it for this drone.

Hey RB are both eyes fed the same status indications in the goggles. As I am blind in one eye, I cannot see the point in my buying them if I am missing half my status indicators (which are important when flying an upside down lawnmower!)

Yes, both screens are the same.
They're not the stereoscopic 3D type.

BTW did you see my Bushfire video?

No I haven't seen it yet - too busy examining my recent aquisition - another bloody ILT argon. This one arrived in fine nick, and just needs the remote to local fan modification to make it go :)

I'll check it out as soon as I get time. I'm off to bed - very tired very busy Ben needs sleep.

Goodnight buddy, let us know what you think of the new phone.
I stayed with the 6s and iPadmini4 for drone flying.

There are other practical uses and experiments to try.
For example, it's often touted that a handheld laser equipped with a line generator is a powerful tool to aid rescue teams to locate someone in the mountains that needs help. The MM diodes don't need a line generator with the G2 lens. ;)

I own a P3P as well and have tried on a limited basis, flashing up at my bird at about 350' from directly below. Was using a RPL 450 running about 330mW. It was very cold, we had about 35" of fresh snow pack and I wanted to get a shot of that, the laser was an afterthought. The beam, while quite visible to my eyes, barely showed up on the video as well as my ipad mini used on the controller. Only when it was just a few degrees off axis was it noticeable. Again, this was on camera. Our eyes are much more sensitive!

Interesting video, and yes at over a mile away it's definitely going to be hard to spot a UAV.

I always wanted to launch a 16' diameter weather ballon on a 1/2 km or so tether and have a full RGB array of lasers and controller. onboard. It would be neat to see the beams from below. I wonder how many UFO calls would be generated by that! :D
