Good call Atomic, if you want a low power blue that's the diode you want. Easy to plop into a C6 or 501B kit as well

Yeah but I know nothing about building these things, lol.. just need to find a good place to buy one now.. ;)

Gotta remember I'm new to this stuff and your terminology is a different language to me, haha=

haha, yeah I probably will try and build one at some point, but right now I'm just learning the basics of laser tech and what not. I am a hobbyist and when it comes to things I love I usually go beyond, just haven't dug deep enough in this sorta thing yet. Time will tell.

One things though, I'm really glad to have found these forums.. Seems like good knowledgeable people for most part.

ps I'll get profile sorted, didn't know it was enforced lol.

Very well.

I meant that diode has more of a pure blue color as opposed to blue-violet. That makes it brighter and easier for our eyes to focus. Single mode means it has a tight beam, better for pointing distant stuff.

Actually there is no 'rule' about the profile- its just common manners- like going to an open party when you never met the person hostting and therefore paying for ALL the food and drink- its nice to meet thiem and say thanks for having me- A rude person would give this no thought-- this forum is the party and the info/help here is the food and bev-- Hope you live near Houston as we are planning a nice laser meet soon AND just how can I invite you if I dont know where you live??

Im happy to give your rep a big boost if you follow thru
and expect to be ignored (by me at least) if you dont

Not disagreeing here and I'm defiantly not a rude person. I'm consider myself more than fair as a person in most cases. Profile has already been updated! Cheers.

I really don't think what he wants is available in a pointer at what he wants to pay, a 100 plus mw 473nm might be good for him since it is DPSS and has decent divergence, but looking at that JetLasers it's half that power and not cheap. I was going to recommend the NUBM07E diode, but then the divergence isn't very good with a multimode diode like that unless he puts a beam expander on it, then maybe that will do what he wants, but it won't be cheap either.

405nm is only 1 percent as bright on a power by power basis, compared to green 532nm, even if you get a relatively high power 405nm single mode diode laser, it's so faint you won't see it putting spots on something that is far away. Oh, it will put a spot on something a thousand feet away, you just can't see it from that far away.

Yeah the 473 and 589 are out of my price range at the moment.. Still trying to decide where to buy from.. I think I'm going to go with a blue 445-450nm when I find a good place. I have been talking with this guy and it seems ligit. Just don't know about the quallity, but the price is cheaper than anywhere else I've searched.

http://laserpointerforums.com/f39/f...8w-462nm-available-now-93166.html#post1354051

Set 6: 445nm 1W(1.2w+) single mode /multi operation modes(+5) ($110) / ($115)

Although I wouldn't mind paying a little more for a thicker beam.

not wanting to rain on anyone's parade BUT--
consider saving up for A rgb PROJECTOR for sure those around you will like it 10X more than all your handhelds- lots of pointer owners go to PJs in time BUT afaik no laser show person ever gave that up to begin collecting hhelds and pointers --=agree?

IMHO LPF is stil the best laser forum no matter what your tastes are..

ANY non-USA forum members interested in a super deal on a full color PJ needs to PM me asap-- (they are NOT available to USA at ther prices I got)
