Never knew this forum had so many badass martial arts masters.  

Uhmm. I have a black belt too... in a martial art that I invented. Its called "me-shoo-choo".   :p

"Masters", don't think so.  I practiced: each-knee-sun-chee-go-rrook-seech-huch-koo-jew 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10 Japanese (don't know how to spell it, put that's how you pronounce it ;D) went to 405nm belt in Japanese karate.  "Badass", some have said that about me.   :cool:

Do you have a CCP?  I hear it can be tough to get one out here in "may issue" land, depending on your locality.  I would not worry at all, and in fact most of the city here doesn't even lock their doors, but there have been a few instances of street/gang violence later, and not too far from the shopping/late night bar scene downtown that have made me think a little.

You have named the state correctly ;) They are almost impossible to get. Luckily, the charge is what's called a "wobbler" (probably not the official name) :D What that means is that minus criminal intent, the charge is a misdemeanor. IMHO well worth the potential consequence.

CCP is concealed carry permit, correct?
How many members here own guns?
I've got a few rifles, a sig, three shotguns, and my personal favorite... M16. Soo much fun! I wish I could take it out and hunt rabbits in my backyard with that thing.

I *used* to own a nice collection of firearms.. But times got hard and I ended up selling most of them.

I still have the Colt SP1 carbine on that page.  I have a NAA Black Widow that I carry in my pocket and I still have a few shotguns. Most of the others are gone. I really miss the Colt Gold Cup Trophy.. Wish I had never sold that one.

Geez! No wonder you said that the M16 build quality is better than the AK-47! That thing is a freaking ROMANIAN AK-47! Those things are nothing compared to the Russian AK-47...

Now there's something we can agree on. Romanian AKs are junk. However, that page is really old and doesn't list some of the nicer Kalashnikov's I've owned (I've had a few very nice examples). And yes I know the Russian versions are of much higher quality. Don't get me wrong.. I LIKE the AKs.. I just like the AR-15/M16 better. Personal preference I guess.

AKs are ok, but they lack the good looks and precision that more modern assault rifles have.
Yeah, they are pretty tough but Aesthetic value is one thing I can't compromise when making any purchase above $100.

Fortunately, though, I didn't have to purchase all the guns, they're part of the family collection... Saves me a few thousand dollars...
But I want a Beretta 90two. That thing looks so siiiiiiick.


How does one go about acquiring a CCP? I've never put any thought into it until I read this thread...
I assumed in CA it would be near impossible...

It varies by state. You have shall issue states which only require you to meet certain criteria, such as passing a background check for a clean criminal AND mental health record, minimum age,  fingerprinting, safety classes (if required), and paying the fee. If the criteria is met, the permit will be granted.

Other "may issue" states have the same or similar criteria which must be met, however, whether the permit is granted or not is at the sole discretion of the county sheriff or police chief.

And then there's the no issue states (only a couple of them are no issue) which will not issue a ccw permit to a private citizen.

I'm not sure which catagory california falls into.. Probably a may issue state. You'd have to search google and read more about that specific state.

Lately I've been carrying it around.. but I don't expect to carry it everywhere later when the novelty wears off.

I used to carry my FocalPrice 50mW. I was sitting in Chemistry class in my special way (a bit like L from Death Note, google it) and it fell out of my pocket and hit the chemical resistant floor. The crystal assembly came apart and for a while the residue glue provided a sticky surface that it would stick back to but when i tried to use superglue to fit it back permanently it never worked again. Still unsure why.

When i get my next laser, a Rayfoss 30mW i'm going to give it the same treatment i give my wallet and keys, chained to my belt loops.

And the other day i bought myself a pair of "LSD Pant" by Criminal Damage the clothing brand (idk if you guys have it). They have pockets that go on forever, I can store 1L bottles of water in my top front pocket so i'll end up being able to store huge amounts of stuff in there. Makes a change from me carrying my backpack everywhere.... my backpack of which is now obselete for non-school days.
