...i am a strange boy.... XD i would only buy PEN lasers.. and not bigger lasers.
yes... a 18650 laser has big battery and long endurance... but it is much more nice to see a powerfull bream exit from a so thin thing like a "pen".

and ...for me is more safe and better the MOMENTARY on push button. lasers are dangerous....is not a good idea keep on them while lasing ......

sincerely.. at the moment i am looking for a GOOD POWERED GREEN pen.... >130mw.

i know that 100mw "should" burn everything.. but someone say that only from 125 mw you can burn everything with easy.

i am contacting laserlands.... rayfoss... asking for the best pen that they own. i would really find a STABLE 150mw pen(incl IR) peak at 170/180. is it POSSIBLE?
does these "cheapo" pens do these power? i would not spend 200$ on a filtered optotronics 150+ pen. but if i could find a STABLE 150(inclusive IR) and spend less that 100$.....is better :)

but seems that the MAX power of these cheap pen is a stabble 120/130mw... but i would 150stable.(ok it is not so much different.... but in my head... i prefer to think having 150mw of power FOR SURE... and not only 120mw..that would be only 100mw of PURE green.

It's very possible. If you're only using it in small bursts, pens should work fine. Actually, refer to:

http://laserpointerforums.com/f39/f-s-skylaser150mw-opto-150mw-48914.html

patrick is a trusted member and you'd be getting a slightly used pen, BUT it puts out ~170mW and is only $135. Something to consider, at least.

150mW Green Single Beam Laser Pointer Pen - $64.50 : Laserlands

There's another option. Some people say laserlands is risky, but they've always done well by me at least.

Hope you find what you're looking for!

haha Take a look at my collection, ALL pens. :p The objective of my collection is pretty much to own ever different color pen. I have owned a couple large lasers, but quickly lost interest, nothing like being able to carry it around everywhere. :D Also really good point on the momentary switch, much safer to have if you accidentally drop it something.

man I gotta admit the biggest thing that ticks me off about most lasers is the dang switch! people are WAAAY too obsessed with clicky switches, and while they are quite handy for certain applications (burners, easy pictures with multiple lasers involved), the momentary switch is often a key selling point for me. In face, more people should follow Skram00's example and make hosts with both kinds of switches!

Basically momentary switches are for pointers, and clicky switches are for burners (at least that's the general sense). Now how hard is it really for a company like CNI or Opto to be a role model for everyone else by adding a momentary switch to their PGL/RPL's?

hope you enjoyed my eight cents ;)

peace & thanks

The only drawback to the momentary switch is, as stated, if taking pictures or setting up beam shots.
That's why my wife keeps yelling, "Where has all my clothespins gone to"

LOL, i also prefer pen style units ..... nothing against other cases (i had a pair of plans for them, muahahahahah *evil laugh*), but most of my units was pens ..... and yes, i also prefer momentary switches, and overall side switches ..... just a personal feeling ..... the only time that i found helpful a clicky tailcap switch, is in high power units as safety device (for be sure that it cannot turn on in my pocket and burn me, LOL)

This is the primary reason for my affinity toward tail-clicky (on-off) lasers. I have bumped momentary switches on pen-style pointers in my pocket/bag more than a few times (because I don't carry every laser around in it's original box) and really don't feel that they are as safe as an on-off switched laser.

Re: WHO prefer ONLY pen style laser(momentary on) like me?i am looking a >130 green

^ Ehm ..... i think i had to write it in more clear way, sorry my mistake.

I meant that i like to have ALSO a clicky switch, other than the side momentary one, for high power units (same as some manufacturers place a keyswitch on the tailcaps), for safety reason ..... so i can "turn off" the unit, and not risk that the side switch turn it on in my pockets ..... but i still prefer to have momentary switches, for act them .....

Maybe is just my idiosincrasy, but i don't "feel" right to have a clicky switch that keep my lasers on (at least for handheld units) .....

Re: WHO prefer ONLY pen style laser(momentary on) like me?i am looking a >130 green

if momentary buttons scare you away for safety reasons (accidentally pressing button), get a laser with safety features like a key switch. Also I personally think clicky lasers are more dangerous because if you're pointing, say you drop it or someone rips it out of your hands (things happen sometimes!) then it stays on, bringing potential for direct hits or reflections, etc.

both would definitely be nice, but if I had to pick, I'd do side-clicky for burners and momentary for pointers (most of my future/dream lasers are in CNI PGL-III-M hosts so I had to convince them to make a momentary side-button version )

Re: WHO prefer ONLY pen style laser(momentary on) like me?i am looking a >130 green

thanks for sharing that link, Kevin. It now seems that CNI is producing 532nm GLP's (CR2 version) in excess of 250mW. Great. With virtually the same exact specs as the PGL-III-M series (esp the beam specs). They've made PGL-III-M's in excess of 400mW before (remember the old DL Spartans?) and now make PGL-III-C's in 800mW. However the still refuse to make the 532nm PGL-III-M's in anything over 200mW. That makes so much sense.

peace & thanks

Re: WHO prefer ONLY pen style laser(momentary on) like me?i am looking a >130 green

I love 'pens' but only in certain wavelengths, mainly blue and green and sometimes red.
I prefer the tail clicky switches, cant accidently turn it on, and you can leave it on and set it down for different experiments and what not, and you dont have to keep holding down the button.
My 808nm skylaser pen has a key lock, and although it is very helpful in preventing an IR from coming on accidently, the key is so small im afraid to carry it around and lose it with the laser locked, so it can defeat the purpose at times.

But for "experiments" and so on, there's always lab-style units ..... pen style ones don't last very long, for continuous uses ..... not the high power ones, at least :D
