Whats the power of laser in those store scanners?

Not the handheld ones but the big fixed ones in grocery stores where the cashier swipes items over (see image). Don't need to know exact wattage just an approximation will so.

Everyone I've seen has been 1 mW or less, but many of the older ones were HeNe tubes.

EDIT: When the grocers went to handheld scanners, these things popped up everywhere. I was moments away from snagging one on at least three occasions. They are a little more difficult to come by now, since there have not been any real upgrades to UPC scanners.

Any HeNe tube small enough to fit into a handheld scanner would probably be ~1mw anyway. This shows someone taking one apart, and you can clearly see the tube is rated for 1.05mw. Now if the tube is actually doing 1.05mw is a different story, because I don't know if they give them all a max power rating, or they are individually tested.
