Question What would be more bright?

Wanting to build the most bright or most visible laser to the human eye.

Im thinking between the NUBM44 450nm @ 7 watts or the NDG7475 1W 520nm.

Default Re: What would be more bright?

Probably the NDG7475. I've had both 1W 520nm and 7W 450nm and I think the 520 was brighter. Also consider the NUBM07E too though, it's nearly as bright but with an even better colour (465nm).

Hmm that's a toughie.
They're both gonna be monsters. I would go with the 520 due to the fact it'll be less hard on the eyes if you're not wearing laser glasses.

I was going to say user the relative brightness calculator but I'm getting a 500 Internal Server Error on that.

Worth while keeping in mind assuming it comes back up!

I've got to agree with the others, first would be the NDG7475, with the NUBM07E as my second choice.

If you really want to go all out and impress the neghbors, you could step up to one of these for a modest increase in cost!

NDG7475 would be brighter. Also the beam specs are better than the NUBM44 giving it a brighter beam.

I might just go and do that Jeff.

The new n450 and n465 are some nice diodes. They're canned, makes them a little nicer, than the 07. My thoughts anyways.

Cool, glad to see that it's back up, it always scares me when these reference type sites that we rely on go down, you never know if they're gone for good or not!

The 520 nm is brighter and also far less dangerous .
Be sure to use laser goggles and follow safe operating procedures with with either of them

Wouldn't say far less dangerous, at 1W it's still extremely dangerous as far as eye hazards go. Less chance of damage from diffuse reflections and less chance of setting your house/ceiling fan on fire though.

Yes, good goggles are a must. Check out the offerings from Survival Lasers for a good set at a reasonable price.

Worth while keeping in mind assuming it comes back up!

Relative Laser Beam Brightness Calculator: (566nm 1mw) vs. (676nm 1mw)
It wasn't working for me the other day. I thought I would never see it again, but now it's working
