the first one is 3.6V and the second is 3.7, the first one seems better because it has overcharge and discharge protection, but if you get a charger that does not overcharge them, and you can choose the voltage to charge with it wont really matter.

what is the difference between 3.6 and 3.7 volt. i know that are the SAME batteries.and there isn't any difference in the voltage. but.... the first....are you sure that is protected?in the web i only found information that NO ONE 10440 is possible to have a protection circuit because this kind of battery is too little. bho...... XD what's the truth. i will use it in a laserpointer. so the down cut off voltage is a good thing......

lol ok, non riesco a capire il tuo inglese molto bene ma...

The first one is protected the size does not matter!, and it has 3.6 volts, the second one has 3.7 volts un protected so there is a difference in voltage, 3.7 is too much voltage.

hmm, please post once you receive the batteries and say if they really do have a protection circuit, because EVERYTHING i have read says that they aren't big enough to fit a protection circuit in it.

ok... but i don't know HOW to checkif it this battery has a protection...... how can i do? can i use a multimeter and check if the voltage goes UNDER 2.75? if it goes.... the battery is UNprotected. if the multimeter is at 0 volt... ok the protection is in function....right?

I'm pretty darn sure that the batteries that you linked are not protected. Frogger is kinda right, protected cells tend to be a bit longer, but it should not be a problem for most applications.
AKAIK, the "blue" Trustfire or Ultrafire cells are NOT protected, you want the "silver" cells.

You can buy them from Matt at Battery Junction.......and yes they cost more. *

he's talking about 10440's, not 14500's.
I don't know how to check them to be honest.

Actually, Ultrafire's are not protected and Trustfire's are protected... I do not care what the description says. If you read closely, the Trustfire protection is described as overvolting and undervolting limits... which means that the Trustfire will quit charging once the voltage is maximum. The Ultrafire and Trustfire are pretty much identical except for the additional circuit on the Trustfire which limits the voltage. Both batteries are safe if you use a charger with a protection circuit (but if the charger is defective, Ultrafire's may be overcharged and go BOOM). Although the Trustfire's are rated with 100 Ah of additional reserve, in reality the Ultrafire's will last longer between charges since the Ultrafire's do not clip the voltage at the low limit. In summary, I would go with the Trustfire because it's circuit will result in a longer battery life since it limits the low level. Buy a few so you can always have them in rotation.

14500's are AA size.

Also remember that your cells should include an anti-explosion Vent / PTC ( mechanical thermal protection ) so they will not go boom.

I think you mean mAH.. Yea, if you wanted the protected version, the LC 10440 is the one - it has less capacity (500mAH) than the unprotected one (600mAH).

I just received my order for 4 sets of these yesterday, and they sent me the Wrong ones - they sent UNprotected model # TR 10440 at 600mAH, but I paid for LC 10440!

I hope they send you the right ones!

I have the trustFire batteries with the slightly extra voltage and it says it has overcharge and discharge projection. I'd go with the TrustFire ones, link 2.
