What should my next laser build be?

I'm thinking Blu-ray or 20x red, PHR or LPC? It will be in another project box, with either a DDL or Rkcstr driver. I hear Blu-ray is better for burning, but with double the output from the red, which one will be stronger? Keep in mind I will probably use a 9v battery for PHR and 4AA for LPC. Also, just give me some reasons why me, a new laser enthusiast, should go with either.

Also, I am thinking about getting a diode pre-fitted into an Aixiz module, from Modwerx to prevent me from frying diodes.
Pre-installed laser diodes : Modwerx Shop

What are your experiances with Modwerx, should I buy it somewhere else?

Thanks - Brian

I would absolutely recommend a 12X BluRay project. Build it up and provide new data.
You will have a burner and we will have new data. Everyone wins !!!!

Haha, I wish I had ~$200, but unfortunately, I only have these two choices, as I have a 50mW green coming in any day now, and I can't afford those diodes.

I can't advise which to buy, but I can say that Modwerx is a very nice to work with, supplying great products with great service.

Red is cheaper, you can get more mW on the buck than any other kind.

Blu-ray can burn things that are in color (instead of it being just dark materials) but they are not cheap and to get one that will be able to burn well you will have to pay out a bit more.

This is only looking at a burning perspective though, I would say save up for a blu-ray diode and if you want to build a red laser find a discarded PC CD/DVD Burner at a farmers market/flea market for cheap and extract it to make your laser.

Again though this is just what I would do.

This is only your decision. Nothing that anyone else can make for you. You've got the facts and the budget, so surprise us. Please don't start threads like this...

But honestly, for the same price. Just buy both, and then tell us what you think.
