What MW laser pointer has the most visible beam?

Please excuss this if there are other threads on this topic, I have not found any that have anwsered my questions.

Hello, I am looking for a laser pointer that has a very visible beam in most conditions. I currently have a 5 mw green laser and it is a lot of fun and my friends and I enjoy it, but I am looking for one that has a much more visible beam in more conditions than just pitch black. I am curouis as to what mw laser pointer has such a beam, under 200 mw.

Also, what color has the most visible beam? I have heard it is green but am curouis as to what other think.

Depends on the time of day using a laser.

If it's during nighttime 507nm would be the peak wavelength, but lasers at that wavelength if they do exist won't be cheap!

If it's during daytime the peak wavelength is 555nm, 561nm lasers exist but again, won't be cheap.

Just stick to 532nm since it's cheap(at low powers) & gives you the best of both visibility

Any MW laser will be extremely visible!
On a serious note... The brightness we perceive is dependent on 2 things: Wavelength and the amount of light (mW etc). Green is your best bet for something that is always visible, with blue coming second.

532nm is the most visible wavelength which is easily accessible, my 200mW 532 has a visible beam in lit rooms but not outdoors in sunlight, but the dot is visible in pretty much all conditions, even 500 meters away in direct sunlight.

So if I was to use a 150 mw laser, would it be visible indoors under safe conditions? Or if it is well lit inside would that affect it?

It depends on the wavelength and how lit the room is 150mW of 660nm (red) would not be very visible in a lit room. wile 532nm (green) at 150 you may be able to see in a lit room.

My 200mW 532nm labby I have no problem seeing the beam in the day in my room.

520 would be very visible too since the beam is alot thicker vs 532 beam.

Can't beat 532nm for bang for the buck. Sounds like your 532nm pen is actually low powered (probably less than 15mW total including IR if you are talking pitch black conditions to see the beam). I've purchased at least a few hundred 532nm pens in the last couple of years (all labeled <5mW) and it was very unusual to get one at that power or less at least from where I purchased them. I only say "low powered" in the context of how most of the 532nm units being sold at <5mW are usually much higher than that.
Unfortunately, the ebay seller out of N.Y. has DRASTICALLY raised his prices in the last month or so and I no longer have a source to recommend for my focusing pen tutorial

Okay so I think I found a laser that will suit my needs

200mW 532nm 303 Focus Kaleidoscopic Flashlight Green Laser Pointer (with one 18650 battery) at Laserpointerpro.com

But I have a concern, it says that it is a kalidoscope, am I able to take the kaliodscope part off and still have it function like a normal laser? I watched a youtube video on it and it appears itmay be taken off, I am just concerned it may not be focused properly for optimal range or something of the likes

Don't buy from that site, those lasers are total garbage and most of the power coming from the aperture is IR light(invisible) & not 532nm light, which is what you want.

If you want a TRUE 200mW greenie look at laserbtb. They have some of the cheapest prices around:

532nm is you best bet and don't buy from laserpointerpro most everything they sell is fraudulently represented and if not misrepresented mostly junk. You are lucky if the one you mention is even 20mw.

Try HL 532nm 50-300

or LPF member SciFi lasers 520nm SF501B 520nm Forest Green or 532nm SFAG-300 532nm Green

All of them are under $200

Thank you, I had a sneaking suspicion that that website was not selling quality items. The laser you suggested looks very good, but my price limit is about $30ish. I found these two lasers, and they appear to be nearly identical, could someone inform me if these are quality (most of the light coming out is NOT ir )?

It would have to be a one in 10000 shot actually getting a 200mW 532nm at that price. Unfortunately there's no free lunch and you are going to have to save quite a lot more to come up with the $ needed to get an actual 200mW 532nm. The suggested places by others are good places to start.
You can name 100 or more places that offer 200mW 532nm for cheap and you will still get the same answer so there's no point in listing seller after seller. Not trying to be harsh, it's just a fact. There's likely been over a 1000 people asking for what you want in this forum and the answer is always the same. Hey, maybe someday but more than likely by the time that day comes it will be a felony to own one.
If I had a nickle for every time someone has said they want an expensive laser only to reveal they hardly had any money my house would have been paid off long ago

Pman is 100% correct.

For $30 what you want is not possible---figure rule of thumb for 532nm lasers $1/1mw generally speaking --you might find a few better deals than that but not many.

Remember IR filter is important----IR is invisible can be a significant part of the output in low cost lasers---you want to know the actual 532nm green output without the IR
