What kind of laser do you need to turn off stret lights?

I'm afraid your wrong there. Mercury lights (don't know the exact name in english) go off if you kick them because you break the reaction that is going on inside. It needs a few minutes to start again and then another couple to go to the maxbrightness.

I've turned off 4 consecutive lights from my driveway with a 7mw He-Ne ,
The trick is being able to find the small window on the photocell of the light.
In theory,they should be oriented in such a way that the sunlight enters the window and hits the photocell. Not exactly rocket science! However,not all streetlights are as easy as the ones I did. Some just won't respond .

My 450 Rpl with 30x beam expander woks well at just over 400 yards : ) It Takes a little wile to get steady tho : )

I only did this to my own person street light tho ... we have 100 Acres and its kinda in the middle of it near the house so i don't think any body but me was affected..... Its also handy to keep by the pool to turn off the other light by the pool so you an have a night swim with your gf : ) but anyways don't know if that is to laser related but dam thos things are nice to have in some situations Oh and the one by the pool was my crappy 50mw lol would be bad to drop the rpl in water .... its not crappy but compared to the rpl it is : ) ......

and dude lighten up on fire my laser cause pointers and lasers shows are 2 completely different things that's like calling a Lamborghini and a model t the same just because they have an engine and you came off way to offensive to a senior member if i were you i would kinda lay back for a while and see how things are before you start expressing your opinion to strongly : ) but anyway we all learn with time just my 2C : )

You have to look at the photocell on top the light during the day and look for the little window, note which direction its pointing then come back at night and aim in that direction.
