What causes "haze" (not speckle) around beam?

I have two green lasers here, the kind in the brass barrel. One is supposed to be 30-50mw and came stock in the "Dapper Stage Laser Light Show" (a great handheld host) and the other is an aftermarket 100 mw beam I bought from eBay, for install into the same host.

They appear about equally bright to my eye though I haven't tested at night yet. The thing is, the 100mw has a kind of haze around the beam and the other beam doesn't. I am not referring to speckle. This is like a static haziness around where the beam hits.

Picture is attached of the two beams side by side. I'm guessing this is caused by poor quality optics but wanted to see what you guys thought.

Where do I buy a laser of better quality with a nice tight beam without any haze around it?

Oh, that's probably from a dirty lens. Try cleaning the lens with a microfiber cloth and see if it helps. I'm not sure what type of laser you have, so I don't know what type of module you need.

Also, for future reference, this extra light beside the dot is called "aberrant light" or "beam splash".
Edit: just noticed you said laser, not just module. I would recommend Laserbtb for high quality green lasers, the PL host for better stability and likely better optics.
