My wife and I have two kids. My legs are doing fine :D, but she had some varicose veins and she wanted them gone for pool season coming up.

So she went to a doctor and they doped her up with a bunch of Valium, wiped her leg out with a dozen shots of a local and yanked some veins out of her leg. Gross!

They ALSO fried a bunch of the smaller purple veins with a laser. This is pretty much cosmetic and gets rid of the purple lines and leaves the legs looking pre-baby.

Here's the weird part... When they were zapping her legs with the laser, she told them she tasted Cauliflower. They told her, "that's odd, most of the patients say Broccoli."

What about getting your leg veins zapped with a laser makes you taste vegetables?

:wtf:

The legs carry a lot of toxins. Maybe the cauterization throws a flavor in the blood stream.

I have had all kinds of anesthesia, and Valium, and never got any strange tastes.

EDIT: Well, there yo go.

People can often taste the drugs or saline when I'm pushing it through the iv.

These veins are still functional and they are burning them away so it would not be strange for them to taste it.

So if you are ever playing with an ir or 2 watt blue laser with goggles and start tasting broccoli, check to make sure you aren't cooking body parts!

I'll assume then that when someone burns to death the last thing they taste is broccoli....

I like broccoli and thinking that it may be your last taste is a depressing thought!

yeah i've tasted saline after giving blood at the doctors. Unfamiliar Bio-matter in the bloodstream could possibly be perceived as a familiar taste

I would love to understand how the brain works, I have had various flavors for no reason other than a lighting change though its not often, I taste vodka when I give plasma but I have tasted the sodium citrate and it tastes nothing like vodka, and the injection sight disinfected with iodide, so I don't know where vodka comes in at. Some times in the Autumn at a certain light and humidity, I smell things from my past for no reason I can explain.

I got put in contact isolation, from getting sick at a hospital, some mutated something got a hold of me and gave me a 107 fever that would not respond to most antibiotic, they found something that worked but I can't recall what it is, my memories is funny from the fever, the medicine made every things smell very strong to me, to the point of vomiting, I could smell the sulfides Broccoli, I have no idea how dogs do it.

they can separate different odors, isolate that and just stick to that smell if something else stinks. They dont just get over powered by what ever smell is around them.

This has been an interesting thread!

I kept telling my wife, "I could do the laser part of this stuff. Come over here and let me fire up my Survival Lasers 445!"

She didn't think that was funny.

Crazy thing too, they only gave her Advil after the surgery. I keep percocets around for my migraines!

It sucks having a tackle box full of narcotics and not being able to have any of it

Yeah, I wouldn't make it as a pharmacist for sure, that would be too much temptation. I would think you would have stronger, faster-acting stuff in your kit.
