Hi Hap,
If this helps this is how i have my thermopile set up isolated on a stand. Very reliable readings, i also have a Nospin LPM both with Ophir thermopiles the same way. No problems at all..These pics are for reference on set up for my LPM and my PSU readings

Is there anybody local to Hap that can help him out with a second LPM reading?

I'm thinking that's the quickest and easiest way to find the problem.

I guess this means you don't have a laser with a known output to check your meter against. If you did, that would help solve the accuracy problem some, but wavelength and power differences can also throw some meters off some. I'm not sure how flat the response is for a LB LPM from IR through 405nm.

Hi Alaskan,
Thats what i said before he needs a laser that he knows the output to check his LPM out. I built all mine but a few and know precisely what they do..

I'd recommend that he sends the laser to a trustworthy member with a high quality LPM. Only way to really know whether it's the laser or the LPM at fault. Either that or just wait for the spartan to come in and see how it measures.

That graph makes sense for what you have as it should be able to be set that way. I will honestly be surprised if it doesn't test out to that. It's up to you to make the choice on how you verify it's output. I of course would do it if you want and provide an immediate turn around since I am home all day and can run it back down to the post office the same day. Can't help that I live across the country from you but it's not like you couldn't send it whatever speed you want. Don't know any other way for you to get the output validated than to send it out or meet up with someone.

My wife is a school bus driver so the more the merrier

It sucks I get so worked up about things like this at times, ugh! I think it may be best I send it over to you so I can get an accurate reading on it. What should I do with the LPM I currently have? Return it? If it always reads wrong then what's the point? I do trust Gray's reading so I may just go off that.

I am just concerned about the LPM at this point...

I am just honestly worried about what to do with this LPM. What would you guys recommend? I plan on making a quick trip to the store right now, so should I mail my PL-E out or just go off Gray's reading?

Or should I wait for my 589nm Spartan?
