Hi all,
I'm making a project and I need to use this laser DPSS laser, 1064nm, it works with a TTL modulation. Now I'd like to know how can I modulate the laser, in which way? I mean, what link I should do to modulate?

Thank you in advance.

So, it's enough to link a power supply to my laser and give a voltage between 0-5V?

Well there are two things you are going to need. Power and Signal

1.Power supply. This will provide the input POWER specified by your laser module. This is going to be >5v (maybe 12v or 18v depending on the module) and in the 100's to 1000's of mA.

2.Signal. This is going to come from a device smaller device of some sort (arduino, microcontroller, plc, ect) this is going to be 0-5v at around 10-25mA.

I'll use this as an example:
150mW green laser module TTL &Analog modulation /12VDC [OL-532M-12V] - $112.99 : Zen Cart!, The Art of E-commerce

The Power requirement is 11-13v and the signal requirement is 5v.

Ok, I'm really sorry for my poor background about this topic but I really need to understand this issue. Could you tell me something more about all the links? I should start with a graphic interface like something in LabView for example, right? Than, a microcontroller from which I have the TTL modulated signal in output? And then how can the laser get this signal?

Sorry again.
Thank you very much.

Hi,

Could you give more info on why you want to modulate the laser?
i.e to control power / transmit data / make it look good etc?

The point is that I need to make a wireless communication from a building to another one, the distance is around 100m. Now, this DPSS laser works with a TTL modulation up tp 5kHz, and I need to modulate the signal right?

You could use a laser if you have line of sight. But why not like a high power xbee module?

Because I need to use this laser, it's not my decision :\ Now I'm trying to understand how I can give a signal for a communication to this laser, if I need to modulate it and how.

Ok, thanks for these links, but what about this modulation? If the laser works with a TTl modulation, it means that? (about the signal)

It means that the laser can be controlled / accept a TTL modulation signal.
You need to have a separate circuit / device that sends the signal to the laser.

I'd like but unfortunately this is my project, I have to do this :\
So, could you help me, please.
