Is there any new boost drivers available?

It's been a while since I've looked up for part to build a laser, so I'm wondering if there's any new boost drivers available, because the only one I ever hear about was the flexdrive. But I have to say that this one was kind of pricy, so are there new cheeper alternatives?

The RayFoss and o-like BR drivers.
Rayfoss-> $9
o-like->$15
w/ shipping.
I think, but I dont have the time to look them up for you.

I've heard both are good, but the Rayfoss needs something added to deal with vOut spikes. jwc used the O-Like, I'll see if I can't get him to chime in on it.

i saw a boost driver when browsing the candle power forums once, it was made like a flash light driver (obviously) although it wasn't much cheaper, maybe a few dollars....But it would work great with these small flashlight we use.....even more so if the boost drive is the same diamter as the stock flashlight driver....just swap them out!
Although i don't know hwo stable it is or if it is subject to voltage spikes (i don't think that worry about that very much with LED's)
...i wish ryan would design one :)

i "think" you just add a small capacitor to the output...i saw someone mention that somewhere....oh it's n the red section, i believe it was larry and his unlimited duty cycle red?

I have one of the O-Like blu-ray drivers. As advertised, it has a max of 150mA. I found that mine had a funny pot, though; I couldn't get it to stabilize for a while and found that to get the current I wanted, I needed to solder a little SMD resistor on top of another:

Anyways, as you can see, it looks like a mess, but it works fine. After securing it safely in a module, I see no output fluctuations at all, so it is indeed a good driver. The current limit can probably be circumvented, but it's probably for the safety of the boost chip, so I wouldn't go much higher.

tl;dr: if you want a cheap way to drive PHRs, the O-Like driver is good.

Bob, keep in mind that not everytime can a capacitor type be switched to another.
