Hi Guys n Gals,

Some of you may remember the project I set myself converting an Art Asylum Star Trek series I Phaser replica to laser power utilizing a module from an astronomers aid pointer. I have had the PCB tested to determine output level which is at .24 watts but I have no way to know if the claimed beam 240mW level is anywhere near that power. Be that as it may, due to the circuitry I designed to drive the laser in sequence to the blast sound effects of the hand-held unit that clips into the body of the weapon, the laser is effectively firing at its optimum continually anyway.

My original design saw the module mounted in a custom engineered brass holder. I have since refined the layout and the module now sits cheerfully inside the weapon and the Nimh rechargeable power pack, I developed specifically for the conversion, has been uprated and now lasts considerably longer than the original setup.

Only three of these Phasers exist; a Canadian collector bought the original, I still have one and the only Mk II uprated design which is now being listed on ebay item number 250545882822 ends 16th December. The only reason I'm selling it is that I am still bleedin' unemployed after 11 months!! and that doesn't do a lot for buying Christmas presents for your kids.

If you consider bidding on it just remember this is a collectors item and certainly not a toy. All the safety rules apply to this converted Phaser that you would follow when using a laser and I will be including a list of do's and don'ts in the dual lockable foam lined steel and aluminium flight case that holds the pistol, hand-held Phaser and charge adaptor unit. There's a reason it's kept in a lockable case; if a child got hold of it (as with a laser pointer) and wanted to see where the pretty light came from... I rest my case (if you'll excuse the pun).

Hope it was ok to let you all know about this. Hopefully it'll make someones Christmas that little bit more special whilst doing the same for my kids as well.

Nice Phaser....

How about giving a Discount to LPF members like some of the eBay
and other sellers have done... since you are advertising it here...
That may speed up your sale of your item...:yh:

Hi lasersbee

Thanks for the compliment. I just love these Phasers when they're converted.

I am taking a risk listing the Mk II at £50 as at that level I am actually taking a loss and if circumstances were different (i.e. if I had a job and was bringing in something at least) then I would have, of course, given a discount.

With the state of my finances being so dire (I'd never have considered selling it under any other scenario) I have to try for what ever I can realise with the auction. The person who wins the weapon knows that they will own the only depth3d Mk II on the planet, the only Phaser fitted with a laser module that actually modulates in sequence to the sound effects. No one else has yet managed to crack the problem and, I have to say, I'm not about to give out the circuit plans, so the Phaser will remain unique.

Hope everyone understands.

Cheers

If you ad a high power directed sound device to the phaser then you got a nice non lethal weapon that could disrupt the equilibrium of humanoides.
