What exactly would happen if someone created a spirograph using three mirrors instead of two? Would the designs be even crazier or would it just create a really blurry projection?

Some really cool projections. It's been done and posted here, it just may take a while to find it. I seem to remember one person did a really nice one, and posted about 20 or so of his favorite images, and had several videos.

yeah, there are at least one thread I know of in Multimedia, probably 2-4 months back. It adds a "3rd" dimension, and there are completely different combinations of shapes that can be achieved this way. I'm in the process of making one with an old 6ch rc helicopter transmitter and receiver. Yep, remote controlled!

alright, it looks like im going to grab one more spare cpu fan and add it to the setup i already have. Btw, would a 12V cpu fan have enough rpm to produce cool effects?

Yes. You may want to add one more dimension to the mix. Make it so that one of the mirrors can be reversed. Having one mirror turn in the opposite direction (and be switchable) adds yet another set of potential shapes.

make a 5 mirror one.
lol, well not only will adding more mirrors increase the divergence and decrease brightness, but it will have too many weird patterns overlapping, it wont even look cool anymore, my guess is 3 is the limit before it turns into a big epic FAIL.
