I live in the US with the freakin' rules... This is what I want.

Spot is visible at night: Yes (dah :p)
Spot is visible in light: Yes! (also dah)
Beam is visible at night: Yes
Beam is visible in lightened area: Yes (It does not need to be lightsaber bright, but visible)
Can burn things: No

I don't really care about burning right now. Basically I want a green laser with visible beam.

5mW greens (on cam anyway) just look so weak... But my country does not allow over 5mW lasers unless it has the five safety features... I don't mind having them, but the 2 (more like 3) second delay.. Wow, that would be sooo annoying...

I seem so limited on my choices now. Is there any good green lasers that don't cost $100 more for just for safety features?

And could I really get in trouble with one over 5mW if I just use it at home?

Or maybe I should just forget buying lasers and just make them?

Or forget it all together...

I depends on the laser specs. I don't want to go over $100 $150 though.

What about something like this?

http://optotronics.com/proddetail.php?prod=glp-30

It will do everything you want and maybe even pop dark balloons. What's your location?

You shouldn't encounter any problems using it in your house or yard. That is unless you do something wrong or have bad/nosey neighbors.

Jack, the owner of Optotronics, is a great guy and might be able to send you the laser in a way that customs won't keep it or give you trouble.

I live in NC. USA North Carolina.

I know most my neighbors, there good. Still may need to warn them before shining in the sky. Might scare them.

Laser seems good. Looks like the ones on DX. Is it? Also, I don't think it has IR filter. People say green is worse than IR but others say IR is dangerous. I'm new to lasers, so would this be anything to worry about?

Hey, welcome to the forum.

Jack tests all of these to make sure the IR output is minimal... so you don't have anything to worry about there.

And -- You'll probably want the 55mW version. It'll be a lot more fun... trust me.

You'll have no problems receiving something from Jack then. I live in Georgia and all of my orders from him arrived in 3 days not including weekends or holidays.

You could take a look at http://www.laserglow.com or http://www.novalasers.com also. They are in Canada though so I'm not sure what would happen if you ordered from them. I don't know how thorough customs is with stuff coming from Canada.

Yeah, I love the lyra. But don't know if shipping would go well.

BTW: is that 30mW laser the same as the ones on DX that I cant buy (from them)?

And I just contacted jack, so we will see what happens.

I got my laser from Nova with no problems at all, but that was before the government started really cracking down on enforcing their laws.

Just curious, where do you live in NC?

And keep us updated what Jack says and what you get.

If you're getting a low-ish powered laser, go for a NOVA laser.
They sell good quality lasers that are power tested and normally over spec. And they guarantee that their shipment will clear customs or they send you another one.
They look nice too.

Listen to me my friend.
I know I'm going to invoke a shitstorm with this one.
However, If you follow this link, You will be able to purchase a 8 to 15 mW laser pointer that works quite well.
Ask me how I know. ;) It blows the DX pointer series out of the water. They actually work. And they are dirt cheap.
Forget about the PP self imposed ban. Just go for it. Trust me. ;)
