Faona promised to keep me informed about it's progress. She mailed me today to say it is 700mW without IR filter and 518mW with (IR filter being shipped seperately) The measurements were taken over 60 second cycles.

I will be doing a review soon after I receive it (UK Customs willing of course :)

A measly 500$ plus a little more for shipping in seperate packages. They also threw in a pair laser shades.

Nope, but I trust Faona as she has never steered me wrong. By the way here is the link to the laser:-

Re: So my 500mW Rayfoss shipped today....

lol the 600mW is only $30 more than the 500mW version
--> www.rayfoss.com Lasers&midclassname=Green Laser&smallclassname=600mW

I´m sure they´ll never get this output! It´s a cheek that Fiona told you these data...

that 600mw is unfiltered though which would probably place it much less than 500mw filtered. The 500mw filtered is the better deal it seems.

Thanks xStatiCa, you took the words out of my mouth.

I tend to do my homework before committing to buying :beer:

As my original post stated:-

"700mW without IR filter and 518mW with"

And the 500mW is about 700mW unfiltered!? Are you joking man?

No, I don't think I am. However I am prepared to be corrected, tell me what, in your experience it should measure unfiltered?

I don´t have experiences with rayfoss lasers, but to me it doesn´t make sense that the "500mW unit" puts out 700mW without IR filter and the "600mW unit" only 600mW without the filter.

Re: So my 500mW Rayfoss shipped today....

One is advertised with a filter and rated with the filter because it has one. The other is advertised without an IR filter and rated without one because it doesn't have one. Seems pretty straight forward to me.

I have no experience with such hi-powered lasers, but my O-Like 130mW (unfiltered) module is comprised of 17% IR. This was the second module, the first being only 80mW but having had the exact same percentage...

So, assuming it stays around 20% across the board, 500(1.2)=600mW unfiltered. Of course I have no way of determining if IR% is linear. My guess is it's not when "jumping" from low, <200mW to higher op >300mW DPSS lasers... :undecided:
