Hey Folks,

Just read an article regarding a new record for smallest micro-laser. It's 30 micrometers long, which is actually smaller than the wavelength of light it produces. (200 micrometers) This is a big deal in the development of electro-optical processor chips. And as usual, there's lasing involved.

I think I read about this in a computer magazine. Hopefully these will soon be introduced to microprocessors to speed up communication on the dies which is the biggest bottleneck in processors today.

If this type of laser development continues, the future just may see insects, armed with lasers, as VERY sneaky weapons. Instead of a mosquito BITE, you'll get a mosquito BURN. VERY BAD if it's in your EYE.
