Hi-

I looking for 6mm diameter and 8mm diameter housings (module blanks) for 5.6mm laser diodes. If possible I would like a glass adjustable lens- but I'll settle for fixed plastic lens. If there are some cheap 6mm and 8mm modules with lasers loaded I can strip them out and use them.

haven't done the math in my head yet, but just by guessing, i'm not sure if you could even make a glass lens fit in a module that small?
that leaves .4mm to press the diode into.....it would prob be hard not to bend or break the housing while pressing the diode into it.....

actually you have only .2mm on each side, that would be more like tinfoil... :-?

for the 8 mm maybe you could shrink an 9m aixiz? although i don't think the thread would survive such a procedure, but the front part might...

//edit: somehow i got the aixiz confused to be 9mm in dia. aren't there modules with 9mm dia out there? i think i saw some somewhere sometime........ :-?

6mm diameter is what I'm looking for. Aixiz.com has a 650nm 5mW 3.0VDC 6x12mm with fixed lens mini Laser Module. I wonder if I could change the diode out in that module? I don't need for the housing to extend back over the "skirt" of the diode.

I've used this 6mm one from Aixiz -- I think... the one I got last year had an adjustable lens, but their page says 'fixed'. Their website has changed since (but not in my opinion much for the better)

It would be worth an email to ask for clarification, the little ones I have are great for low-power tinys!

Thanks Ken, that is worth knowing for future reference, I had been looking at them and wondering whether to get a couple.... maybe not :)
