Hello there, I just wanted to share my Friday with all the laser enthusiasts out there.
First of all I am an English teacher (with a background in Fine arts and digital imaging in Secondary Education. btw, I have also taught Physics, Chemistry and lots of other subjects)
teaching at a small girls private school on the outskirts of Eastern Seoul.
I was informed last week that our school would hold a science day with all pretty much the same demos as years previous. I decided to take action and bring my 150mW Blu-ray pen and demo on a few different materials.

ALL safety precautions were taken.

My experiments consisted of the following.

1) Sodium Fluorescine in aq solution - Absorption - Fluorescence
2) Zinc Sulphide Luminescence after absorption
3) Balloon pop
4) Black tape destruction
5) Lighting a match from 20ft - Kids loved this one!

Unfortunately the pictures were put into flash on the school website. ~
Also I think I am in need of a few more lasers for summer camp and an upcoming demo of an English physics demo. Physics teachers want English vocabulary!

Sounds like you made it into a great science day. :san: If the pictures are in flash you could link to the school site perhaps? Be fun to see.
What ages / grades does your school span?

Grades 1-3 middle school = grades 7-9 USA and Canada.

My picts don't show the experiments taking place :( and they were not taken by me.
Sorry.

I plan on doing another demo with my new CNI 350mW green portable that I plan on getting sometime in the next few days.

I will make sure I have a camera ready for that.

I liked the reaction of the science teacher telling me it was not possible that a small laser
pen could burn something, (older teachers here in Korea are SO stubborn!!) I just smiled and said watch this. The facial expression on his face was worth a $1,000,000 after he saw the laser set a match on fire from across the room! Still not believing what he just saw he stuck his hand in front of the beam and noticed that it was hot enough to sting!

:crackup::crackup::crackup:Now thats sweet.

Yea he certainly sounds quite stubborn. Bet he is going to be surprised when he sees the beam from your 350mW CNI.

Oh yeah! I bet he will be surprised.
I think that the school will ask where they can get one!
