Hello everyone, it has been a long time since I have visited this forum. But I have been watching lots of laser videos lately and it sparked my interest again.

I have a blue laser already and now I have been looking at getting a green laser around 100mw. Of course green lasers are always more expensive than the others, which I assume is because of the cost of the diodes.

Well I see some people mention Sanwu, and I went to their website. Most of their products seem out of my price range, for example it will say like $130 and then when I pick 100mw 532nm, it adds $70 or whatever.

But if you go down past all the silver ones and you look at the last one which is black, it is only $18. And when you pick 532nm at 100mw, it does not change the price. I really find it hard to believe that this is only $18, what do you guys think? Is there something I am missing here?

If that doesn't seem like a good idea, I'll have to check somewhere else. I wouldn't be opposed to building my own, I actually wanted to at first, but it seems a little complex.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Those 303's and 304's are all over ebay for around $8 and legit..They can do anywhere from 40mw to 100mw..
Sanwu's are nicely binned ones and metered at a close to true 100mw..

You can find 301 and 303 lasers in 532nm on eBay for as little as $4.00 and up to $9.50 if you want batteries, charger and star caps. They are typically around 50 mW to 80 mW which isn't bad. You won't be able to see a difference between the $4.00 80 mW and the Sanwu $18.00 100 mW lasers.

I’m confused, what makes those so cheap? How are they any different than the other options on their site that are $100+?

In a word, quality. Their more expensive options have very nicely machined hosts and high quality drivers. The 304 lasers aren't made by Sanwu, they just bin and resell them.

This ^^^ but also don't get hustled by 532 green laser's with claims of 200mw or even crazy claims of even 20000mw for $100 from scam over priced garbage stores..
They are basicly the same mass produced cheapies that just might have a cooler style host and will do from 40mw to 80mw.
Ok there are some examples that might really do 200mw but are very unstable, get hot fast as they are built with a over pumped diode in a small module. They don't tend to last also. Then there's the high IR issue which adds to the claimed power.
Unless you have $200 to $300 to spend from a reputable company I would buy a 303 or 304 and as they are cheap you can get 2 of them as one will most likely be stronger..
If you see something that catches your eye, don't hesitate to post a link of it and others can tell you if its legit..

Edit: apwhite, ok I re read your original post..
The Sanwu's 303 or 304 are just a extra set of lasers they sell for convieniance, they don't manufacture them..
The reason for all the price changes on Sanwu's builds is the options you might choose on that particular model.
He might have a spiker host for example and prices it with the standard say 1W, but you have options for a higher power maby 3W or a 520nm green and that changes the prices.
