i have purchased the tailcaps to use as dustcaps for the focus knob of modules, what can be used for the cheap pen hosts? id prefer something that is deeper, more condom like.

They have those little mini condoms for finger tips, not the ones they use for sewing although those might work. When I was growing up my moms nail was always painfully splitting on her pointer finger and she wore it to keep the moister out or the medicine in.

Rubber cab? Sounds like something to keep drunks from banging their head on the ride home. :D

I'd prefer an extra step before lasing. It would just make me feel a bit better. Of course, I take the batteries out... but still. The finger condom is a good idea but I was hoping for something thicker like the dust caps.

I believe the sewing ones are rubber and should stretch fine?....other than the metal thymbols they have

I was thinking of the rubber ones people put on their fingers to help them flick through stacks of paper. Think Staples and the like has them.

Hi trend,
Ok auto motive parts use a rubber cap for protecting bolt threads and to cap off vacuumed lines. They come in all sizes and are really thick rubber in assorted colors

I think these are the style that Lifetime mentioned, these are indeed very heavy duty and should work well.
You just need to find the proper size, as these don't stretch too much.

The second from the left has a14mm I.D., not sure exactly which size your pens are.

I make a lot of dustcovers out of cardstock, they keep the lens clean when in my pocket and add a level of protection, I make them a snug fit.
This one has a nickel in the end to act as a beam stop / burn through protection.
You could dress something liked this up with custom artwork or just use black cardstock or a color to denote the laser color.

Excellent answers guys. I really like the Automotive Caps. The sewing rubber finger tips is prolly my second favorite. I've repped everyone here I could. The finger condoms I feel would break easy. No pun intended.
