Hi Folks,
Just purchased this laser and it had to be refinished cause it looked likest's been around the block a number of times and i wasn't pleased with the over all look. basically it deserved better because of the great machining the person did.. I did a before and after so here it is enjoy folks This is before pics there are other dings and scratch but you get the picture. Notice no lens threads on the knob that will be solved easily.

Rich:)

Hi Alaskan,
Well here are some after pics when i refinished the entire host, I will take some pics in it's entirety . Iwaent a little further to investigate what it looks like inside with the 12mm module removed to reveal the goodies . Some after pics, Had to turn dow the skirt so the focus knob would mesh even when focused it had to much material and made it to long.

It was made by Gadget and sold to me. I sold it to Rich and he has done some wonderful work on it, it seems. I like the way it looks polished like that.

Hi,
@ Alaskan, This was from what i found out that this was Gadgets first machined host when he was starting out, When i seen this host i had to do it justice being its very well made and heavy. It was my pleasure to refinish it and took me 3 hours to do. Shines like the sun now ..

@ GSS,
Yes when i received it it had been through the mill and around the block. But it needed tender loving care it deserved for being an awesome design. No i didn't buy it from Harold i bought it from LIL Dutchboy it has the 07E 470nm in it. Her are some other things i found out after sticking my nose in it, Yes i have a problem to investigate the lasers i buy.No heat shrink just electrical tape oh well time to modify and adapt .

Some people prefer lightweight hosts, but I like them with some weight and room, large heat sinks and ability to accept 26650 batteries and I love them. This doesn't look like it will hold the big batteries, but has a lot of mass for sucking up the heat and a lot of surface area to transfer it to the air. I'm a fin man though, like lots of deep fins.

Hi,
And i altered the soldering and added heat shrink also thermal compound that was omitted. Now she's back to her glory that it deserves
@ GSS,
Yes shiny like chrome lots of sanding 6 different grades of sanding then polish.
@ Alaskan,
It take 2-18650's plenty for the 470 diode and yes lots of heat sinking on the host it self.
Here's a few more pics of the refurbishing..

Hi,
LPM's at over 4600+mW's at 3.5A's stays cool , one thing i miss it heat sinking the driver to the main sink ,but in this case there is no place on the host for it. But beggars can't be choosers a am satisfied with the refurbished laser. Just a bad habit in a good way..

I was told by DTR that 3.5A was the max I should go without heat-sinking the driver. This host really does handle the diode well though. Never really felt it getting warm.

If the driver gets too hot, don't those sense it and back the current down?

Oooch, it looks like somebody use it as a hammer, that's got some nicks and dings on that sucker. That thing went through the mill, not good! :(

Wow, that a face lift, cost you three hours of your time, but she sure turned out pretty. I'm not sure but maybe call you the Plactic Surgen of Hosts :). You can turn ashes into beauty, I'm impressed. :gj: and a , you sure saved that host.

Hi,
@ lil D,
Yes the driver does not need all that sinking at 3.5A correct , it's just i like to go that little extra step further when i build a host or full ;laser it's just the way i do things.Self satisfaction i guess.
@ Alaskan,
I suppose they do but at this setting i really don't think it would due to the SXD driver being well sufficient under 4A. Had one once without sinking was set to 4 or 4.5 and kept running out of regulation kept running on and off after it warmed up. Sinking just the a piece of CU on it wont go , you must sink it to the main sink..
@ BM,
It's just the way i am if it could be done better to my ability i will do it no matter how much time it takes to make it right. This is truly a great host nice lines and sinking to boot.

Thanks all of guys for all the great replies ,awesome forum here..

Rich:)
