I was wondering if anyone could make a detailed tutorial on how to build a very simple laser time tunnel. As far as I know, there isn't anything like this in the forum yet. Making this tutorial will be very much appreciated :)

Glue a mirror onto the shaft of an electric motor.  Power the motor.  Shine your laser onto the spinning mirror.  Smoke or fog helps.

hey daguin, i bet you wish you sat on your coach and ate Twinkies instead of doing that! holy crap you must be out of breath! ;D ;) ;D

another way to make a time tunnel is to take a CD player and force it to play while its open and tape another CD to the top lopsided and shine your lasers at it!

I know it sounds too simple. However, all you need is a shiny surface that will spin quickly. It should be "balanced" so that it will spin smoothly, but round, square, or triangular doesn't really matter. I like round simply because it is easier to get spinning smoothly for me.

As Travislikescoolstuff said, you can just take an old CD player without a cover and spin the CD to make a time tunnel.

Toy motors often have a inbuilt gearbox, if it has you might not get the effect you're after. You want high speed for this.

The only tricky thing is to get the angle of the mirror right (if you want a tiny mirror you can either cut a larger one or buy some little square or round mirrors that they sell in craft stores, those are maybe a couple of centimeters or so wide) - you want a real shallow angle or you will have more of a curved liquid sky rather than a tunnel!

I just try to get the mirror set "flat" by hand.  My inability to hold it absolutely flat gives me a pretty good angle ;)

Oh it must have exactly 45 sides, weigh 30 grams, reflect 98% of the light hitting it, must be angled at exactly 10%, and must spin at exactl 9000RPM, and remain perfectly stable, you must use thermal glue to make sure the mirror doesnt overheat, Make sure there is no air between it and the fan, it must be 46% humidity, at 20 degree's Celsius, Not be exposed to light at all, not allowed to glue it during a thunderstorm or on the 5th of December, and you cant touch the mirror in any way.

Yes, i was kidding, any mirror will work, just make sure its small.
