Default Re: Drones Must Registerd !

I don't own one but I am wondering does this apply to all of them? Or are they exempt if below a certain size? Also is there any requirement for a sticker on them to identify the owner?

Okayyyyyyy ..... says FAA Administrator Michael Huerta. "Registration gives us the opportunity to educate these new airspace users before they fly so they know the airspace rules and understand they are accountable to the public for flying responsibly."

Hobby drones will need to be registered in the US | Stuff.co.nz

Drone Owners Will Now Have to Register With the US Government

Our government has been out of control for awhile now and getting more so. No one voted for these laws, they just decided to make them. Oh, I had to come back to add, laser pointers are next, maybe guns first, but the government won't give up their guns, no..

Next thing you know they will tell us what size soda we can buy.
They tried that in NYC, the New York Court of Appeals, the state's highest court, ruled that the New York City Board of Health, in adopting the regulation, exceeded the scope of its regulatory authority. So I doubt anywhere else will try it, however they may put an extra tax on it, a soda tax like we have on alcoholic beverages, I don't think there's anything to stop them from doing that.

Default Re: Drones Must Registerd !

Starting December 21, the FAA wants you to register any small, remote, aerial vehicle that weighs between 0.55 and 55 pounds with the government. It’ll cost you $5, but that fee will be waived during the first 30 days. Each registration is good for three years.

When’s your deadline? If you’ve owned your drone since before December 21, you’ve got until February 19, 2016, to complete registration. But weirdly, if you’ll own your drone after December 21, you’ll need to register before you take your UAV out for its first outdoor flight.

“Registrants will need to provide their name, home address and e-mail address. Upon completion of the registration process, the web application will generate a Certificate of Aircraft Registration/Proof of Ownership that will include a unique identification number for the UAS owner, which must be marked on the aircraft.

Owners using the model aircraft for hobby or recreation will only have to register once and may use the same identification number for all of their model UAS. The registration is valid for three years.”

--------------------------------------------------------------

We have a murdering criminal running for office after she lost 6 Billion dollars in her state dept. and the FAA want's to slap kids with a felony, put them in prison for 3 years and fine them a quarter million dollars for not registering their toy airplane? SERIOUSLY?

Isn't this about the time when the peasants revolt? This is straight out of the twilight zone. At least make it no more than a 500 dollar fine the 1st offense and a misdemeanor, at least until the drone package comes with a FAA registration instruction sheet.

I just hate these shock and awe penalties over a 5 dollar registration fee, I get that they want people to be responsible, but a quarter million dollars and 3 years prison boarders on state sponsored terrorism, same kind of crap the district attorneys were doing when they wanted to stop citizens from recording cops in public, where is the ACLU, these alphabet agencies just make up regulations that carry the weigh of law without a vote, the 1st time fine should be limited to no more than 500 dollars, but they want to use gorilla tactics to bully people and that rubs me the wrong way.

At least we have the right to a jury trial, and as a lot of people own drones.....I can understand how a jury would nullify a 1st offense.

Agreed! But, don't be a martyr. And that is not terrorism;it is the police state. If the parasitic zombies want her they might get her and all the crap that a failing police state brings.

^^ Now think about this for a moment....................

Ok. Now ask yourself, "what's the incentive" (to register)?

I see this as a law going nowhere. Totally unenforceable. If they don't know you have it, why tell them? So you can pay a fee? So they can take it away? If you use your [unregistered] drone and lose it. Shame on you, now you'll have to register the new one. This will only increase the number of build-your-own-drone hobby enthusiasts.

This is the same thing as gun registration. Prior to 1968, one could buy a gun without "papers". After 1968, not so. Now I'm not talking how the criminals get theirs so let's leave that out of the conversation. But back in the 60's the government wanted you to register your un-registered guns. Now why would you do that? Again what's the incentive?

Back in the 60's you also had to have a license to operate a CB radio (ever hear of those?). Again, totally unenforceable. The licenses required, with no proficiency test had a $8 one time fee. The form was in the box when you bought the radio. If you threw it out, who would know you bought it? Register receipts weren't as sophisticated then as they are now. And cash was king back then. Again totally unenforceable.

However, knowing our government, they will probably try to license lasers next. Having knocked the legal limit down to 5mw, the next thing they will try to do is license everything else.

It'$ the American way.

Looks like federal regulations fare taking effect soon. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...he-government/.
It looks like any "drone" under 250 grams will not need to be registered.
All drone already purchased or owned before 12/21/2015 will have until February 19 to register them while those purchased after will have to register them before flying them.

I'm thinking of getting an V222, even though it looks like it is under 250 grams

Default Re: Register your drone

There are a lot of fun drones under 250g or 0.55 pounds. According to the royal decree from up on high by the alphabet agency who was not even elected but merely appointed, yet their rubber stamp regulations carry the weight of law without our vote, we subjects are allowed these lightweight toys for now without jumping through the hoops and paying the sure to increase extortion fee.

I got some from ebay as Christmas gifts and kept a couple for myself, these are well under 250g even with the crash protectors attached and for 60-70 bucks it's surprising how much fun they are. They have led's all over them so you can see the direction they are in at a distance, they are easy to fly with 6 axis gyro chips and you can hold it in your hand and feel it fight to stabilize, you turn it on, set it on a flat surface and it flashes to let you know it is calibrated, really cool and more thrust than you would expect, they are so light weight they can fall 20 feet into the grass without damage so far and the camera records pics and videos with sound to a micro sd card. You get around 8-10 minutes of flight and charge time is 30 min to 60 min. Batteries are back to back lightweight lipo 7.4v 500-850 mah. My scale is not for light weight but these are around 1/2 the limit @ 1/4 pound with the battery and everything. I will verify on a postal scale soon.

Everyone should get one, everyone should demand freedom.

The aero is really stable but the h8c has better lights and a bit more torque, which is strange as its motors are a little smaller and the batteries are 500mah vs 650mah, but these motors turn a gear and the reduction ratio is higher on the h8c. The aero may end up being faster by a little but I'm still getting used to remembering the direction are backwards when you are turned around, so I'm not zipping around with the greatest of ease yet, but they are very controllable and I land rather than crashing, unlike the helis I've had.

Now I know direct drive motors would have better longevity, but they would weigh more and cost more, but also produce more zip, these have enough power to fly in light wind and can go from falling like a stone to rising again just by giving it full throttle for a couple seconds, I have seen the 400 dollar jobs have gobs of power from the videos, but these are not weak, if you hit the throttle they go up quickly, they even have a flip trick button that's pre programmed. No GPS at this price level, but so what.

I've had heli's but this is my 1st try at quads, and they are fun, I will get a bigger better one soon.....and register the f&$@1ng thing.

@Redcowboy I have seen some really nice video from quadrocopters. I would really like a fixed wing capable of autonomous flight. There was a really nice one called the Aero which is no longer available for $1,300.

I kind of have my eye on this one. We could have some fun with a 10 kg payload and 110 hour flight time: go the distance fixed wing drone!
