Rechargeable "C" batteries

Who makes good rechargeable "C" batteries? I've been able to find some Energizer rechargables locally but they are only 2500 mAh. I've been using normal alkalines but they don't last long for burning purposes. I also need a good charger for them since I don't have one.

Check out the following link...they have good batteries and Chargers. Personally I like the Maha/Powerex chargers.

They work really well for day-to-day showing off and last a long time. I also bought the 10,000mAh D-Cells of the same brand for my Electric heated socks (It's a Canadian thing... ) and they have saved me hundreds of $ in expensive D-Cells.

The charger is made for those batteries and they are conditioned perfectly. It's a great rechargeable system if you need the big cells.

Well, It works fine for an LG Vega, but then that's only pushing out 5mW. An Orion is a different story. You need enough juice for 260mW there, so using 1.3V rNiMh batteries is going to lower your power significantly. Which is fine if you're just showing the friends or playing around in the dark. (I use mine in the Vega while I'm aiming and setting up, then swap in the Duracells for the actual shot) If you want to burn though, you're going to have to stick to Duracell Plus C-cells like Justin recommends.

so basically unless i want a drop in overall performance/beam visibility i should stick to the alkalines? arent they any rechargeables i could use that dont affect performance of laser?

Not in C-size unfortunately. I've only seen NiMh rechargeables in that size. And only in the last year could you get low discharge NiMh C-Cells. You can always buy Duracells in bulk at Costco or Home Depot, assuming that you're anywhere near one that is.

Actually I don't find this to be the case at all. The current regulators on the Orion and Aries series from Laserglow don't drop out of regulation until about 2.4 volts. I power my Aries 200 and and my Orion that's been bumped up to 500mw with the Energizer nimh rechargeables, and there is no difference in power output between these and fresh Duracells.

Side Note: It appears Duracell has stopped selling the "Duracell Ultra" brand primary cells in the "C" and "D" sizes. The only place you seem to be able to get them anymore is online, and those appear to be left over stock, not fresh cells.

Second Side Note: The retail chain store Batteries Plus sells "C" and "D" rechargeables under the "PowerEx" brand that are very good rechargeables made by MaHa I believe. The capacities are 5000 mAh for the "C" size and 11000 mAh for the "D" size. The only drawback is that they're pretty darned expensive.

Hey, that's great to know if I ever buy a more powerful Laserglow unit! Thanks for the input. I have a lumenphile buddy who swears by the Maha cells as well, but his charger cost $85! I guess, if you choose a charger it's best to get the same brand cells for compatibility. Thanks for letting me know about the end of the Ultra C & D line. I'll be sure to check the expiration date if I see them again.
