Hello all

I would say I'm a newb to the laser community, but I do think I've gotten a pretty good understanding of somethings just by having read the forums for a couple days now. to get to the point, my question is this: I'm interested in either the galileo-5 or the aries-20...mostly I'm being budget concious, but secondly I want something to carry around that I can use for pointing at things not just at night but also during the day and I'm not really looking at being able to light matches or pop balloons, as cool and fun as it is, I'm rather looking to purchase a laser that can handle being on for extended periods and not cause damage. that said I wonder if someone could help me in outlining how big of a difference I wouldc see between the two lasers stated. I understand the difference in power, but I wonder (from someone who doesn't own any lasers) would I see such a difference that I would definitely be disappointed having not gone with the aries, given the applications (though vague) that I described breifly.

thank you ahead of time and I appreciate the help...great forum btw!

You just want it in to point at things for extended periods of time? If thats the case, you can get a <5mw green with APC that has an indefinite duty cycle.

Re: Question on some laserglow lasers? please help

THIRD TIME I HAVE GOTTEN MY POST DELETED BECAUSE OF A LINK

*little bit cranky now*

Starting over, for the THIRD time.

Sorry Indiv,

I am trying to get information to you, and this forum is stealing it from me.

I have read that a laser needs about 4 times the power to be about twice as bright.  So a 20mw laser, would be about twice as bright as a 5mw laser.  Also, our eyes are MUCH more sensitive to 532NM (green) laser pointers than red pointers, so a 5mw green would be as bright as a much more powerful red pointer.

There is a graph on the laserglow aries page.  Thanks admin for posting that part for me...

Also, some other lasers to look into getting would be the Fusion on the phraug website *link please* the dealextreme lasers *link please* and the lucent optics envee... which actually just suprised me by having a 6 month warranty.

Thanks!

oh...and ps. admins, please make it so that if you try to make a post containing links, and you are not allowed to post links, that you can at least go back and modify your post, rather then retype it all.

Wow!... thats the first I"ve heard of a post getting deleted.. especially because of a link... I wonder if it was something else?

Anyway.. my problem is when I first get a laser.. I'm totally happy until I grow into it and want more!..... lol!

If you still want it to fit in your pocket.. that will limit power for sure.. but I really love my dragon for a pocket laser!...

If I could find a more powerful one that fit in the same package would I take it?.. Of course!

Well, it didn't get deleted by a person, it got deleted by the system.

I had a link in the post, and then I clicked "Post" and it took me to the "You are screwed because you are a noob, and you are not allowed to post links" page so I clicked back, and everything I had typed was gone. That happened three times.

Dangit :-/

Hey - the posting of links was limited to those that had 20 posts or more by the system, so it prevents all the spammers from posting links - once you reach 20 posts, that issue will go away - sorry it dumped your stuff like that :-/
