question concerning Li-ion batteries..

as most people know, this type of battery is among the best rechargeables to use in a laser. The question i have is that in a few days im going up to NY and i would like to bring my laser along with my batteries. I have been told that these batteries emit radiation of some sort by someone on these forums and that i should not bring them on the flight. But if i pack them carefully "the batteries in my one of my jean's pockets and the laser with a few other flashlights" in with my luggage and NOT my carry on. Should i be alright to bring them along with me?

Li-Ion batteries don't emit any special kind of radiation ::) Their only real problem is their tendency to explode and burn. You should be able to bring them on the flight. Just tell security that you have them for a digital camera if they ask you any questions.

alright, thanks. but should they be fine if i put them into my suitcase anyway? and where do you think i should pack the laser? More specifically, how different would it look under an x-ray/cat scan, than a regular mag light?

The batteries should be fine. Just put your laser by all of your flashlights and take the warning label off. They won't be able to tell the difference.

alright, so its safe to put it in carry on. and i put the warning label on the inside of the laser casing when i first got it. :D thanks razako

When I had to go on a flight, I just buried my core in amongst all our clothes ;D

although mines probably around 45mW, ill most likely bring it in my carry on with another flashlight.
