Well, I have a 20mw green laser pen with me.

Its nice, the reason I wanna modify it is because I already have a 30mw TRUE green, and a 80~100mw green on the way.

However, I searched the forums, and I couldn't find ANY tutorials on how to do this. So right now I'm kinda stuck on how.

Also how much will it shorten the life of the diode, I need to know if its really worth it.

Thanks.

DON'T.

If you don't know what you are doing don't. It's a way to learn but can you afford to ruin what you paid for? Do you have any clue what "pot modding" means? Explain what a potentiometer is first...

Only saving you from ruining a laser and you already damaged a screen.

Twas my first laser, which also makess me not wanna hurt it.

Thanks for the comments.

i potmoded my green DX caleodoscopik.. turning the pot on right....with a screwdriver.. the brightness is same as default....or just a 15% brigher... and to pot mod.. i turned the pot.... in a position when the laser DOES NOT LIGHT UP. but.... if i turned jist 0,1 mullimeters left... it started to work. i don't know how work the potentiometer.. if there ia a WAVE CURVE of power. but i can say.... that if i turned left.. about 90 degrees.. the power was about like a 5mw laser..... by default...was good... and turning at iright... is A LITTLE better... but now... if i turn 0.01111 millimeers on right... the laser DOES NOT WORK.. like if the power do not reach the diode. i i THOIUGHT...that turning 0.111 millimetert on left...and the laser WORK... i thought it was the PEAK of power that the potentiometer could give at the diode.i don't know if by defalt the 30mw did burn something.. bt now... it can stikg my skyn and burn something ....dark trashbag... but MAYBE it is only a true 30 with a VERY GOOD beam diameter.... in fact the kaleidoscopic DX laser has a 1 millimeter diameter beam.... so also only 30mw could be good concentrated to burn... within 50 centimeters...

I blew out my first laser reading about pot-modding and was not happy... Granted it lead me to LPF and I learned. At the time I had no clue what I was really doing just cheap guides on youtube.

I'd rather others avoid the same mistake. Well it happens with lasers but without a clue it would be like what I did. I turned the resistance so low the whole driver and burned out! That was months ago but was not happy. That was $50 down the drain for that laser.

HanMan5000 seem like an intelligent new member... he listened to what we
had to say about Pot Modding....
He posted that he will keep the laser as it is since it was his first laser...
It's what I would do as well..

Anyone who wants to Pot Mod a laser can do as he wishes... we only state
not to do it to save the member with the question/laser some grief...
But the final choice is always theirs...;)

Thanks.

I must say that I trust you all, because I have to admit, I barley know anything about lasers and how they work.

honestly at the price you paid, if it was 20.00 like it says it is now, i would do it.
or buy another one and do it, only because if it is still stable and puts out more mw and doesnt burn out right away, it could be a cheap solution for a mid powered green laser for all us poor people out there.

so what you are saying is, that anyone who doesnt listen completely isnt intelligent at all.

i see much fault in your statement.

If you're trolling you're wasting your time...

That's not my statement... it is yours...

It was not directed at you... it was directed at hanman5000...
not "anyone"

Key words....
"seems like" not "is"
"completely" a word of your choosing

You know exactly what the meaning of the post was...
Manipulating the words does not alter the post's meaning...

I see much fault in your accusation...

[Edit] I see you changed your original post just above...:spank:

HM5000, Try reading this for a good start, "SPYDERZ TIPS FOR BEGINNERS", & for a reference guide, GOOGLE up "SAM'S FAQ FOR LASERS". I hope these help you get a 'HEADS UP' on how lasers function, are built, the different types, etc. Good Luck, rob

You are correct... you are entitled to your opinion whether I agree
with is or not...

[Edit] I see you changed your original post just above here as well...:spank:
Yes the tests were done... an the conclusion is....
"Don't do it unless you want to end up with a useless stick"...
