Posting guidlines !

I thought I would start a mini-topic here, giving out some very basic guidlines as to how to post to get the best results !

first off dont skip out on punctuation and capitalization some of the folks on here get perturbed easily by that and it makes it difficult to read most of the time

Okay, sorry for that - but good point, eh ?

Secondly, if you are reporting an issue with something, or want to ask about a particular item of interest, try to include a picture or a link. If you do nto have the needed amount of posts in order to post links, you can PM me and I can fix your link if I do not see your post immediately. Instead of putting s p a c e s all through the link, just leave off the www or the http:// and I can go back and add that in for you later - makes it easier on the mods that edit your post for you !
Try to include as much detail as possible about what caused the issue (that you think) or what you were doing when you noticed the issue - the more information you post, the easier it will be for some of us to help you to figure out the solution ! And SOMETIMES - you may figure it out, jsut in the process of describing everything as well as possible ! Trust me, that does happen !

Thirdly, Leave the word F_CK out of your posts ! I go in and edit posts when I see that - although the majority of the world uses that word, and soem of us even know exactly what it means, there are some minors on here, whose parents COULD get a little pissed off if they keep seeing that word listed, and boot them off the forum ! I do not think that anyone has ever been banned for doing that YET.....

Fouthly, Try to be nice to your fellow forum members ! I myself am guilty of that on ocassion - and definitely WILL fly off the handle if my family is insulted, or my integrity. BUT I am trying to improve in that regard ! I would like everyone to PM their issue to the person that they have an issue with, rather than posting dirty laundry for everyone to see - it is mean, and really does not need to be here I think. I could write all day regarding this subject, but I certainly hope that everyone understands what I mean by now ?

Seriously I do agree. I am by no means a saint, but a clean forum is a happy forum. The g damn word is another one and it does offend me, although I do use every other foul word that one can think of at times..lol. But not on forums.

I think it is also important to note some of us might be going through a troubling time for various reasons at various times, and when any member flys off the handle, they probably don't mean it. It doesn't make it right, but we all might need to cut some slack here and there.

I love this forum, and I have made a few friends here. We are like one big family. I really do enjoy this place..

This place has become second home to me. There are many good people and much good information on here. It all just fits right.

I think a good idea for another point is READ before you ASK... ;D Most questions are honestly answered someplace or the other... and I will be making a post soon enough to list a directory of all the good posts with some explanations about them... as a guideline for newcomers

@ DDL, big ask I know but with the regulated supply for GB LD's thread could you do a sort of pull together of the most salient parts, I added some stuff in there myself that is now just making the thread bigger. I am thinking about things like fixed resistor value/mw output when building the circuit to build in to a torch?

I usually use the basic current circuit to measure all parameters --- THEN measure the pots and variables to determine "fixed" values.  Remember that "fixed" components are not perfect and may still need adjustments.

Can you hear "bell curve" ??  All components have a tollerance which may adversly affect your experiment.
