I figured this might be a good place to ask. Is anyone here knowledgeable or have suggestions on what kind of portable/mini projector to get? Basically one for my laptop which I can throw on a wall/screen at any given time. I figured some of the more advanced people here might know all about these already.

Do you mean "portable" as in a pico projector, or something more like the XJ-A140?

I don't know anything about those pocket projectors, the technology in them is advancing very rapidly. Ask RHD, he took one apart, he may have tried it out before he ripped it apart for those laser diodes :)

If your actually interest in it as a projector itself. then your probably on the wrong forum. Most here will only care about the laser diodes in the ones that have them. How well the projectors actually work is pretty moot here. Try googling 'pico projector comparison' and you'll probably find what you want.

I think he's asking about video projectors, not laser projectors.

if your looking for a portable projector that can run off batteries for the most part they all suck, even the best ones are only 20 ANSI lumens when running off batteries
but if your looking for a small projector that you don't mind pluging into a wall socket
the Vivitek - Qumi DLP Pocket Projector its very small and kicks out
300 lumens of brightness and 2500:1 contrast ratio

You could always try out Photonlexicon. They are more about the projectors.
