Please help did I short circuit this lase

Hi this is my first thread on this site. I ordered a 200mw laser diode from DX.com- 200mW 532nm Green Laser Module (3V 11.9mm) - Free Shipping - DealExtreme and i was going to put it into an altoids tin laser build - here's the tutorial http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Y7JavGjcb0Y I was using 2xAA batteries as a power supply and I was trying to bypass the switch on the diode by touching the negative wire to the metal connectors at the base of the switch on the diode and it worked but the laser was so dim it was barely visible and it would turn off after about a second of being on. Before I tried to bypass the switch the diode was working fine i, I tried to hook it back up normally after the attempted bypass but it was still very dim-- did I break the diode or is it still fixable, please help this diode took a month to get here now it doesn't work

If it's dim it could be your batteries are dead. Check that, and if it's not the problem your diode is likely dead. Also please only post about the same topic once.

If you're seeing any green, the diode works. It could be that you just got a crummy module.

That too. The quality of the DX modules vary greatly, and it's very unlikely it will make the 200mW spec.
