Default PGL-H-589 Module HELP

Hi guys
Need some urgent help please, takes a while for Adam to reply from DL so received the PGL-H-589 module with 3v driver last week and today received the PGL-III-C housing with lens, once again there usual lens is glued to the side but not important write now what is important is the module fits the host perfectly and easily even though Adam was positive a customer would not be able to assemble the host, he told me they use a special machine to press the module in but it's obviously a touch loose bad for heatsinking and took me about 5min to assemble, My issue at the moment is I'm not sure what batterie I should be using if this module is made perfectly for this host it's obvious it needs a 18650 battery but I have herd I need CR2, When I first powered the module I used a 18650 bat that had 3.5v left it was fine that is the first pic on the wall without collimation also 2nd pic at the Ophir witch showed some reading, then third pic with the host assembled and a 4.1 v 18650 with beam colimated the metre didn't even register even though it usually hovers at 30-40mw am I using the wrong battery I'm afraid to turn the laser back on after seeing the beam so faint
It was definitely brighter before, rechecked the battery and still at 4.1v it's an IMR any help really appreciated, this was a difficult time to get both packages to Australia and it's getting stressful!

Is the first picture the dot on the wall? Is it that fuzzy? If so something seems off. Shouldn't 589 be close to circular and not a blob?

According to the data sheet takes 1X18650
See: http://www.cnilaser.com/PDF/PGL-III-C-589.pdf

The PGL-III series takes 2X C size 1.5V batteries---the PGL-III-C series takes 1X18650 battery

Try a fully charged fresh 18650. The data sheet says it runs on 3.6V.

Yes, my CNI PGL-III-C 589 also runs with 1 x 18650.
I agree, that beam dimming is a concern, I hope your module is ok, especially after all this time and trouble just getting it to you, good luck.

Ok I'll try fully charged 4.2v but this wasn't a complete PGL it was the
PGL-H-589 module with 3v not 5v driver and I was told is the same module that is in the Spartan and was then offered the PGL C host witch it fits perfectly.

Well looks like 3v isn't enough a fully charged NCR seems to be fine although I doubt it's putting out 50mw, I'll take out my tec based LPM tomorrow and see and the beam is obviously to the side due to the discrasfull glueing of the collimation lens.

Thanks guys.

That's it with no collimation optics, so it's much bigger than you'd see normally. Rather messy beam, even if it is fairly round (module could be at an angle relative to the wall for that picture too). Spec sheet says TEM00, I'd say it's more like "TEM00". Wouldn't expect perfect TEM00 from something like this, just close.

Can anyone else compare their uncollimated/de-focused beam?

Ok the beam is nicely colimated now, still need to reglue the lens to the centre so the beam isn't so off, did another LPM test with a fully charged NCR and looks to be about 50mw that's all I can expect I suppose, I'm not going to do a review as there are many but hopefully anyone in Australia that wants a 589 laser can do the same as it is simple to assemble the module into the PGL host and complete the 2 part laser!

Hi buddy,
Yes very carefully with a razor blade, it should pop straight off, with glue intact as is im just going to recenter it and use some UV glue to a fix it back to proper position, I'll post a pic when done.

I also sent Adam an email asking why his collimation lenses and sometimes the IR lenses are glued so obviously to the side instead of centre, to me this is really incompetent, his engineer might need glasses I mean how hard is it to glue the lens dead centre you have a hole in the aluminium for a guide, for $700 Aussie dollars it should be perfect, they should also use UV glue so much better.
