Overstating Wattage?

Was cruising around DH Gate and was astonished at the number of VERY high wattage pointers, especially at the prices they were selling for. I see 80W lasers going for $30-$100!

I've been buying from LaserPointerPros - a 200mW green for $90 a few years ago and rrecently a 1000mW blue (on sale) for just over $100. I'm waiting for a good sale on their 6000mW (currently in the $400's).

I can't see HOW these 80,000mW lasers can be so cheap - let alone LEGAL - unless they're WAY overstating the power.

So I have 2 questions:
Is it even POSSIBLE to get 30, 50, 80 WATTS out of a diode laser? Anything that high USED to require a wee bit more sophisticated / expensive equipment (thinking CO2).

If so, don't these prices seem a BIT whacky?

Thanks!

On that site i would remove a zero or two on all of their lasers. They are all underspec. Maybe not the ones listed as 5mw. Those might be a little over spec
