Operating temperature?

Hello,

I had a question about operating temperature of the laser i ordered. It's a Jetlasers 1.8W PLE, the operating temperature is between 15C-35C. I live in Alaska and it's -10C outside right now. Will that damage the laser or will it just run at a lower power?

Most of the diodes are suggested to function between -10 to 50 C ,I would say don't run it when the temperature is below -5C at outdoor.

I don't think you need to worry about damage. Assuming your laser is not 532nm and thus diode based, the cold would help with the heat it creates. You may get longer run times. The batteries may not like the cold, but the laser itself should be fine.

Plenty of people have thrown their lasers in the freezer, they still worked. I've even seen vids of diodes cooled in liquid nitrogen to shift wavelength.

i wouldny worry, at worst the batteries might fail or something a little weaker beam but laser itself should handle it, its a beefy host so u should feel safe.

Yeah It's a 445nm, so it really shouldn't affect it then? That's a relief haha. Thanks for the input guys, really appreciate it!

You will start freeze before the laser will act weird haha..

You can keep the cells in your pocket to keep them warm, and insert them just before use.

:D
