First of all , Hello and im Awf , and im a professional laser fan , and i have like 3 lasers (2 green and one red burner all for DX) and the only problem with enjoying my lasers is ..... MY PARENTS !!!!
they always stop me from playing with them , and dont let me order any laser from internet :'(
and im so sad that they dont let me Order an "Aries-50" from laserglow or "PGL-III" from cnilaser because they say the cops will arrest me , lol :eek: thats annoying
im a grown boy and i know how to use those lasers , and i know its not legal here in my country !!!!!

My parents weren't very happy when I got into high powered lasers, they thought I was going to put an eye out. I showed them that I could use lasers safely, I had a 5mW green laser and I was always careful with it, so when it came time for me to buy an X105 from Nova Lasers they were fine with me getting it because I proved to them that I don't treat lasers as toys, even if they may be as fun as toys! I'm 15, so if you are older than me you can use this as leverage ;D

lol how should I know you are safe with a laser? I haven't seen you using one!

The safest thing you can get if you want to play with lasers are safety glasses and not only for yourself- you should consider other peoples' eyes as well!

Maybe you should show your parents that you are aware of the dangers associated with high powered lasers- point them in the direction of the retinal burns thread if you show a keen interest in the way of safety the i'm sure they will feel more comfortable letting you order high powered lasers.

As for the police- meh it all depends on the laws in your country. If you keep the laser to yourself and don't go pointing it at planes then the police would have no reason to look for you in the first place

I am 16, 17 next weekend :D, and I have never asked about them. My first powerful laser I ordered was a Viper 75, I never actually asked about it... It was my money and by the time my parents found out it was already delivered.

Even though, they never complained about it. In fact my dad thinks its cool and has even helped me with my RGY scanner project. I am now the proud owner of a Viper 75, DL 50mW module, ebay 100mw red, finished home built 100mw red scanner and a half built RGY scanner.

I just got into the real laser hobby, and I've ordered a Viper 95 with my parents' consent. They just think it's a waste of money, perhaps showing them the laser will change their minds. They also thought it was good of me to order several safety goggles, since they know I'll use it when there are friends around. I'm 16 myself.

They know they can trust me though, as I've already several other 'dangerous items', such as live swords, a longbow, a crossbow and two air rifles, all of which I've never abused. These are legal in my country though. Also, don't think I'm comparing lasers to weaponry, as I really don't do that personally.

Aaaanyways, I have no idea how I will like my laser, it should come in the mail Monday.

Hope this helps in gaining understanding with your parents, or maybe it will just lead to them saying "What a psychopathic kid." I hope not as this really isn't the case.

I forgot to add, get into the DIY part of the laser hobby. Once they see you are using electrical components they will realize that you really know what you are doing, and they will trust you if they think you know your stuff.

Ya, build your own DIY red from a DVD burner. When they see it works they probably wont question your laser knowledge.

I'm only 14 and my parents don't care about me having lasers. Just show them that you can be responsible with them, and maybe try the DIY idea and see what kind of reaction you get.

my parents let me, so long i am doing it with a friend.

dunno wat the idea is but i am guessing we would stop each other doing "insane" stuff that we wouldn't do anyway..

note the worst thing i have done with a burner is shine it into a mirror at my shirt hehe sniper

I'm 22 and have my own house. My mom doesn't like them but there's not much she can do about it ;D

Protective parents, you should feel lucky. I grew up in the hood, raised from the streets. You learn quick at younger ages whats really important in life. Once you move out on your own, you will realize that your parents were NOTHING, compared to the outside world. Cops will harass you, people will drive you insane, BILLS (rent, insurance, gas, utilities, food etc.) then you will have to work (as I do) or go to school if you want to sacrifice ALL of your time, girlfriend/wife/mistress ;D then your relaxation time becomes much more rare and way more valuable (not including sleep). If you put your mind to it, you can achieve anything. When there's a will, there's a way. Just be smart and don't get caught (from your parents or the cops!)
