So i have a 100mW green laser that looks just like a CNI black pen laser pointer. I bought it about 2 years ago(a little less) and i paid $200+ for it. Why do they cost so much even now? Ive been told "because they are the highest quality lasers you can buy right now" but i cant figure out how. Is this true?

this is what my 100mW green laser looks like these are not my pictures but it looks just like this!

>(sorry i dont have a working camera right now plus my laser isnt working)

They are so simple and compact. It seems they only consist of 2 major components to make them work:
one>the driver board + diode and then two>the lens housing unit/cap. Am i wrong about that? Because in mine it is this is how it is built.

-~-~-~-{-[LENS UNIT]-[DIODE]-DRIVER=[III][III]l)

well yeah pretty much just like this. How are they the highest quality you can get or are they? I just want a working green pen and i love the style of these im just trying to get some understanding about them because while asking if anyone had some to sell for a low price I was told that one way or another they are going to be expensive and seem overpriced but arnt.

Thank you for reading my rant. :)
now please if you will, answer my questions!!!!!!!!! :D

Take care

Well they are little more complex than that

The lens and crystals and pump diode can all be different quality.

So would i just be better off getting an o-like 150mW module and fitting it into my own housing instead of trying to buy one of these new or used? It seems that no one has any or at least that they are willing to sell.

I cherish my CNI laser. I don't know if I'd get rid of it. Some times people do. Usually make room for another. From time to time they do group buys directly from CNI lasers. Also Nova lasers runs very nice sales from time to time. Your best bet right now, if you don't want to wait or pay retail for a cni laser, would probably be to swing over to o-like and pick up a new laser

As i do too. I love it! I just need to fix it haha the diode head broke off (it was glued on and is no unmounted) and one of the pins needs to be re-soldered back to the driver but im not sure where it goes lol I just cant afford to pay $3-$5 dollars per mW :( money is a bit tight and unwilling at the time hahaha
