This is self inflicted but I was driving yesterday, braked hard and my Tactical shot off the seat onto the floor.

It was fine straight after, only last night did it go into a very low power mode, what must have been like 0.5mw?

I took the focus cap off, and looked at the diode whilst turning it on, I was very careful to only peek over the edge, I know its a line beam and I marked it when it was working so I didn't get the edge of it in my eyes if I ever needed to look at it. (Goggles wouldnt have shown anything the power was too low)

When I turn it on it strobes about 6 times at very low power then goes into a constant low power mode, which must be less than 0.2!!

Batteries charged of course.

Any ideas? It's probably busted.

(Apologies if I didnt explain the precautions I took very well, I WAS being extremely safe at the time though)

Can you mentioning the wavelenght of the laser ? I hope it isn't the green laser because >1Watt IR laser shining in your eyes is very hazardous.

The fact that It was fine straight after the incident implies that it's a contact issue IMHO.

I don't know to tell you how to fix this since i have no experience with assembling and disassembling lasers in general and this laser in particular.

Lets wait for other members opinions.

It's 445.

And no it wasn't 1 Watt into my eyes, I said it was less than 0.5mW.

Even if it did come on randomly I wouldn't be at the angle to get much if any.

You dont know if it was 0.5mW because you dont have a lpm !
So you should wear your glasses !

Yes but it's not DPSS like a green.

Where theres an IR diode behind it.

If theres any light coming out of it it's visible.

And trust me there wasnt much.

(Correct me if I'm wrong)

it is probably a contact issue wipe of the threads on the tail-cap and do you have a DMM?

Unfortunately not, the only one I can think of at the moment is inaccessible.

I have just taken it apart. something's blown.

Its not the resistor, it was a small chip, not really sure what it was, but it was black (from being fried) and bits were flaking off it.

It's cool I'll just buy a new driver from O-like now I know its not the diode.

Edit: Thanks for your help though :)
