So I was wondering if anyone has tried a G3 lens with this diode (NubM07E)? I see that at 4.5amps this diode is making about 5Watts with a g2 lens.. Does anyone know what kinda power it would make with a g3?

The 3 element clips the ends but the ends are typically less energetic.

If you are getting 5.0 amps with a G2 then with a 3 element your spot size will be tighter and will burn better at medium distance however output power will be roughly 3.8 - 4.1 watts depending on your focal point distance.

Rear FL of the G2 is 2.39mm and the rear FL of the 3 element is 5.3mm.

I think there was some charts in the 07 thread.

The G7 is a good compromise, it is a single element but a longer FL of 7-8 mm and will produce about the same line width as the 3 element with power between the G2/3 element, rough estimate 4.5 watts, but you get a 5/8 inch long line at 5 meters vs a 1.5 inch long line with the G2 however the G7 focuses out near the end of the 12mm modules threads with it's 7-8mm rear FL.

No problem, now up close for cutting or desktop burning at a foot or less away the G2 is the winner, especially for cutting as the bean can focus so needle thin it will cut without imparting heat into the material adjacent to the cut line.

This is a NUBM06, it has about the same divergence as the NUBM07.
This shows how the G2 cuts without igniting at it's tight point.

That's very helpful!! Hey redcowboy since you obviously know more about this then myself I was wondering if you could give me a quick run down on the power my nubm44 makes with different lenses.. It's making 7.3W with the G2... Do you have a rough estimate on how much power it would make with the 3 element and g7?
