I know this has been said before but they really are a superior company! I ordered their x125 and my total came to around $330 well 4 days later they dropped their price to $300 so i emailed them about getting $30 store credit and to my surprise, they gave me a whopping $50!!! Thank you very much Nova hats off to you!

Nothing out of the usual! I have only seen about 2 products from nova that needed to be RMA'd.

This laser is just amazing too! it seems like when i first turn it on its at its peak for one second then drops to just above 125mW and gradually climbs to its average of around 135mW and once it reaches the average it stays there for about ten seconds and then jumps to its peak in less than a second and stays there for awhile. All this is estimated based on how much it burns my skin, im not sure how long it stays at its peak, but its longer than i can leave it pointed at my arm! Its kind of an odd way for a laser to warm up but i don't care! i was able to light a match from two feet away in under a second! ;D

If I bought something from nova, I would be happy to RMA it if it was broke (Knowing I would most likely get a free upgrade!).

On that note spyro, some bad news, my x125 dims :'( i just noticed it now, i'll turn it on and it will stay at a high output for a few seconds, and then drops to where i can't even feel it on my skin and won't even smoke a match. Any thoughts or ideas to what this could be?

ehh, cant tell you exactly. search the forums for it. i believe it is when the power goes down temporarily and warms back up over time. is it cold where you are?

Actualy that wouldnt be mode hopping, to tell if its mode hopping get a lense like a magifying glass shine it through that and onto a wall... it will enlarge the dot to allow you to see... then run it for its run time and see if the one dot splits into two dots.

If you have to rma it its not that bad, i had to send back my x-65 since it was mode-hopping, the average of it was 71mw so they sent me one back with 91mw average :)

...lazer... ;D ;D ;D

It will work fine for about a minute but then it won't light a black match that it was able to when i first got it. come to think of it, i never really used it long enough to tell much about its power, when i shined it on sharpied paper, i couldn't burn through when im sure it should be able to. I can see where nova got the readings because they test them for 60 seconds on their power meter and like i said it works awesome when you first turn it on, then in about a minute it drops down to where its a bit more powerful than my dx50 maybe 75mW. Do you think i should RMA it?

It is normal for a pointer to drop in power fast as it heats up. The larger laser types like RPL/Hercules/Aries/crossfire/spyders all have something to cool the laser down as it heats up. Usually they have heatsinks or a built in fan.

If you want a long duty cycle pointers really aren't the best for the job.

It sounds normal to me too. What kind of batteries are you using? Alkaline batteries suck.

Im using eneloop rechargeable batteries and i know its normal to drop as it heats up, but aren't lasers supposed to stay above their rated power throughout the duty cycle? The problem is that after it has been run for around a minute it drops to where it cant light a match and then after letting it sit for ten seconds i turn it on and the power drops almost immediately. Then i have to leave it for 10 minutes for it to get back up to enough power to light a match its like a 60 sec on 10 min off duty cyle. Its really hard to explain, but like if your laser was doing this, you wouldn't like it too much.
